Baker Airgun .25 cal. barrel for Crosman Breech

   My 12" barrel on my .25 carbine (CO2 Boss Valve) was getting 520fps with 20.6 grain pellets.  I wanted a little more fps so I ordered the 19" Baker Air Guns barrel.  It brought up the FPS to around 600 for the first 10 or so shots , then about 550 for the next 5.  That's about all you get with the Boss Valve before it drops a lot.  I had to make a spacer between the tube and breech and a two O ring ( size 006) bolt to fit the .25 cal.  The gun has a modified Crosman 160 stock, 2260 trigger pkg., 2250 tube and icemaker tube transfer port.  I like this barrel with the added FPS and its very accurate with a scope.  I like iron sights and have to get busy adapting some for it.  The plastic front here is only to protect the m12x1mm threads on the front of the barrel.

That is a good looking gun you got there.  Nice chunk of lumber, and 600 FPS in .25 is more than enough for tree-rats.

Don't hesitate to share more about this build- it scream back-woods hunter with that type of power in such a small package.  Gotta be nice and light, too.

  Thanks for the comments Peter.  Here is a picture of the bolt and spacer. The bolt was from a .22 Crosman bolt cut wider in the groove so it accepts the two O rings.  They were a little loose on the bolt, so I wrapped some dental floss under them sealed with super glue.  It made them tight and sealing fine.  Also drilled the end of the bolt to insert a longer probe that I glued in with Locktight sleeve retainer.  The spacer was needed to clear the barrel about 1/64th" from the tube.  Its very lite and a real tree rat hammer at closer ranges.

   I also opened up the transfer port and drilled a flat bottom recess with a 1/4" mill bit for the ice maker tube mod.  I shoot the 20.6 grain FTS to keep the speed up and they are very accurate in this barrel.

I really like that! But I don't think I've seen one of yours yet that  I haven't liked. Always glad to see you post a build.They all seem to have the classic look, but with updated powerplants. Same way I like my hot rods!
 Is that a 180 stock?

I was thinking about getting one of those barrels a while back. I was under the impression it would fit without a spacer. I guess I better plan accordingly when the time comes.

  The outside diameter of the barrel is about 9/16" or .560.  That makes it barely protrude below the bottom of the breech.  I did not notice until I went to tighten the little 4-48 screw in the breech.  It only took a piece of plastic from a water bottle cut into a spacer to clear the tube.  The stock (160 model), I found at Numrich web sight under the Crosman parts list for $18.  I got two and they both have a beautiful wild grain.  They do have to be refinished and modified to fit the 2260 style trigger.  I have about a dozen air guns and most are put together from misc. parts like this one because I love building my own ideas.  You really have to have a Boss Valve or Mountain Air custom valve to make the .25 cal. fast enough to be fun.

Same Barrel 13xx/2100 hybrid pumper 650 fps with the H&N FTT... yep very accurate;D ...I checked twist with a rod and tight patch and got about 1:19 twist...

Nice work, Van. Sometimes we have to improvise and it's nice to see how folks do so... but your workbench is entirely too clean, LOL 

Regarding the bolt for a .25 cal, I've found with some trial and error that a metric 2.0mm x 2.5mm o-ring works perfectly on a standard .22 cal bolt...



The problem I had with the 006 was the i.d., 1/8", was too close to the groove diameter and the o-ring would spin on the bolt (loose fit)... guessing you had a similar issue - thanks for the write-up

  That O ring looks perfect for the job!  Thanks for the info .  Got to get some of those as the ID looks just right.  My 006 held great after wrapping with floss and super glue on the bottom of the recess, but I don't know for how long.  By the way that bench is the clean one I keep in the garage to impress people how neat I am.  My workshop looks like most everyone else. Ha Ha!

you can drill out the inside of the male half and add an extra half inch of air volume. I think I used a 3/8's bit been a while. I change my co2 after 10 shots lol.
