If you are not a member of the NUAH Club and would like to join or would like to upgrade your Division standing, your submitted target can be used for that also. All the rules to becoming a member of the NUAH Club must be followed also.

I got a chance to take out my Hatsan AT-44 S10 Long today, tuned to shoot the 34.2 gr. JSB Heavies at 960 fps (70 FPE).... I spent quite a bit of time dialing in the Air Stripper, and I can now tell you that they certainly do affect the group size, changing it from 3" down to about 1.5" and back again, twice over an adjustment range of 1/2".... The two best positions were about 1 caliber and 1.5 calibers of gap between the cone and the muzzle, with the 1.5 cal. gap being slightly better, and having a bit wider "sweet spot".... but even so, the best groups were obtained only over about a 1/16" range of adjustment.... I ended up adjusting the gap just 0.010" at a time to minimize the group size.... I was using a Hawke SR12, 6-18 x 44 AO, set at 18 X.... I was using my Vanguard rest with the rear cradle removed and replaced with a bag, with the butt against my shoulder.... I shot quite a few targets, this was the highest score, 49/50 - 1X.... I am submitting a different target for an upgrade to Expert, because it had a smaller group but a lower score....



I wasn't 100% sure about the X's, so I inserted a JSB .25 cal pellet in the holes and rescanned it, along with a ruler showing the group size.... You can plainly see that one X is inside, the other is touching the line, so it doesn't count as an X.... The group measures 1.53" C-T-C....



I'm really pleased with the way this rifle is preforming.... It's a great combination of power and accuracy, and I get 1 full 9-shot magazine per fill at 70 FPE with about a 2% ES, from 2800 psi down to 2200.... I can get more shots with a wider ES using a 2900 psi (200 bar) fill and 2100 psi refill, of course.... When shooting 5-shot groups, I fill only to 2700 psi to tighten the ES to about 1% over 5 shots, refiling from about 2350 psi....

I was wanting to submit a target for this months comp yesterday but instead spent most of the day at the hospital with my MOM. Got that squared away and she is resting comfortably today. This morning I grabbed "CLIMAX", my Georgia Air tuned .22 cal. Mutant Standard and a mag full of JSB 18.3 pellets and hung my target at the 100 yard post.
 The results were a nice stress reliever.

Nill wind
5 shot group with a 1.200 C-T-C spread. Almost as good as the group shot last month with NUKE, the .25 cal Cricket Carbine.
 Score 50/50   1x

I scanned the target and think that produces a better quality photo than my camera.

Right now I am trying to shrink my groups. Seems there is always one pellet that has a mind all its own.

I shot this group on 6-5-17 with my FX Boss.  Shot it benchrested and bag to the rear so the rifle is held to my shoulder.  Scored a 50 and a CTC group of 1.247".  Was hoping to qualify for master in NUAH, but will have to keep trying     Made a video of when I was shooting and it is posted here.

Regardless of the fact that 50/50 seems to be an achievable goal for these matches.... I still think that the ability to use the same targets for a NUAH upgrade far outweighs the idea of using a smaller target.... The X's are still very elusive, and until we start getting ties at 50/50 - 5X.... I don't think anything needs to change.... Scoring lower instead of higher certainly raises the bar, and helps even out the playing field over the different calibers.... JMO....

Thanks Marty!  I agree with Bob, hitting the Xs will definitely separate the targets at 100 yards. If we start getting 50 5Xs I would say we have some gifted shooters here at GTA. Plus each week creates different conditions for every shooter depending where they live or choose to shoot. I may have great conditions one match where Bob had terrible winds the only day he had available to shoot. The chances of two shooters both getting 50 5X in the same match are pretty slim. I hope it happens though, and I'm one of them    This is a fun match and has motivated me to shoot even further distances than 100 yards. More to come on that over in the long range club thread...

The comment I made in reply #6 was only a light hearted off hand remark. I don't see any need to shrink the target at this time. If we start getting consistently perfect scores then we might have to look at options.

The things you do to beat the wind...worked til after midnight and up at 5:30 to get set up by 6am
