Crosman 2240/2400 a few questions

I got a 3rd or 4th GTA owner 2400kt from Rob a while back. First of all, wow this thing shoots and one of the owners turned that trigger into something awesome.

It has what I believe is a crosman power adjuster on it. I usually back it all the way out and then turn it down till I feel it hit the spring, then 2 or 3 more turns. Problem is it backs out a full turn before I shoot 10 shots. Are there any after market ones that have a set screw or some sort of mechanism to keep it where you put it.....or a way to rig this one up?

Also I think now that i have one to shoot, I might not mind to the long custom shop wait, and get a 177. I've even thought about the pumper, are the pumpers accurate as the 2240 if you get a LW barrel?

The custom shop guns with a LW barrel, stock and all average around 150. The 2300S gun is around 200 bucks for just pistol. What parts you think are in the silhouette gun that arent in the custom shop guns, aside form the expensive rear sight?

I thought about just customizing my stock cheapy 2240, but heck, I can't really do it cheaper that the custom shop.

The power adjuster on that is from Alchemy Airwerks. Get a nut at the hardware store and thread it on there. Once you adjust to the power you want, just spin the nut done flush to the base of the power adjuster. I've seen others with this on there Crosman guns. Guessing over time the threaded rod starts to turn much more freely.
   Yes the pumpers are as accurate. If you get a Crosman barrel it can be as accurate as a LW. But, with only the pellet/pellets it likes. Whereas you've already noticed and I showed you, a LW barrel it's almost like you try to find what pellet it doesn't shoot well, haha. The reason the trigger is so good is because of the trigger adjuster in it. Have you taking the stock off yet? You will see what I'm talking about. It's not just a simple spring like in a stock 2240 or 1322.

I purchased a power adjuster(PA)/rear velocity adjuster (RVA) from Crosman a few years ago.  I believe I used the part number for the Challenger's adjuster although you'll want to double check that the current part will still work with the 22xx's because I think I've seen more current ones that look slightly different than the one I have so I can't say for sure that they haven't changed the Challenger part in more recent versions.

Anyway, it has a set screw to keep the adjuster from creeping out of position once you've found where you want it.  The first picture at the bottom is the Crosman power adjuster showing the set screw on the side.

When I made my first SSG (stopped spring guide), I drilled out and tapped a standard 22xx rear tube plug to accept a large bolt.  The threads were pretty loose and it would creep around over a short period of time.  Eventually I might drill the side to accept a set screw but my "lazy man" fix for now has been to simply gum up the threads with some marine silicone.  It's not perfect and I've heard that there are thread lockers that are made to be adjustable so you can find a better product than RTV sealant, I've used blue loctite on other parts and still been able to make small adjustments and have it hold ok (not great).
