2000 psi fill guns

I got to thinking that I'm paying 10.00 a fill on my tank and I only use it from 4500 psi to 3000 psi because all my guns are 200-230 bar fills.

So I'm thinking why not get a inexpensive 2000 fill PSP to use from 3000 to 2000 psi on my tank.
Scuba shop charges the same no matter if its 3000 to 4500 or 2000 to 4500 fill.

What are some gun candidates?  Something that shoots ok out of the box.

I'm pretty happy with my Discovery in 22. I would probably have gotten a Maximus had I not been set on a wood stock. I had heard the synthetic stocks on the max were a bit flimsy. of course I wasn't satisfied enough to leave the Disco alone. It now has had a few mods including a soon to be installed BNM multi shot breech and shroud. I did the 3000 psi mod but never fill it past about 2400 psi. I did the mod for the safety factor. Also have a power adjuster and stainless fluted hammer and stainless hammer pin. Oh and a brass trigger with 3 screw mod. I mostly use it for nutters. They are wreaking havoc on my pecan trees.

My Gen 2 SynRod is tuned for a 2000 psi fill.
And gets 40 good shots with it.

Nothing wrong with a Disco, IMO.
Mine is stock except for a tko and an optional depinger.
Wears a WGRS-54 peep sight in place of the notch rear, which I can't see.
TKO not necessary for all folks, just us suburban dwellers.
No scope - makes it top heavy and harder to load pellets.
Also, there is no law saying you MUST fill to max capacity every time you refill.
Use what you've got.
Disco can also be filled with CO2 if you're feeling a bit lazy, like me.
No metering valve adjustment needed - just vent off the old fuel and refill with new fuel choice.

Our range has those sporter type pcp, I've shot them but I don't really get them.  Peep site very hard to use, not close to my other guns in accuracy yet cost quite a bit and shoot pretty weak.   I don't get the style of them.   Why are they shaped like that, makes them look like a different type of gun but they don't shoot any better.

They are made to be shot like match rifles.  They have Lothar Walther barrels.  You can shoot it with a scope if you wish.  They can also be bumped up in power with a little tweaking.

Also, like others have said you can tune most rifles to utilize a 2000 psi fill.

Or if you're looking for something a little less pricey, I believe the QB conversions can run on lower pressures pretty well.

Only ones I have that are factory low-pressure fill are a .22 2K Disco (can manage 40 shots at 19.5 foot pounds), A Challenger PCP .177 (that can manage 65 shots at 11 foot pounds) and a 1.5K FDPCP (that can manage 20 shots at foot pounds).

Actually, I'm most impressed by what the FDPCP can do with so  little pressure...but that rifle has a bit of "internet-stick-on-it" due to one guy's (and only one so far as I can tell) experience.

HAve made any of the 3K guns into 2K guns with a bit of tuning at one time or another...the performance  (energy and/or shot count) decline as you are working with 1/3 the air (3K vs 2K)

Yea I searched for FDPCP and the first link I clicked was some guy saying he won one at a GTA shoot and it blew up and nearly took his wifes head off.

How about that Benjamin Wildfire?  I believe it's a 2000 PSI fill and it's a semi automatic.  You may have a lot of fun with that gun!

That did happen, only one so far. The threads on that air tube were likely the issue.

Mine two have so far not endangered any human craniums.

It is close to a disco and share some parts.  Stocks are interchangeable.  I disagree with the flimsy comment.  These are more sturdier than a Mrod syn stock.

Right.  You can do that with any gun.  The Challenger is approved to shoot in 10 meter matches in the sporter class.  That is why they are configured the way they are.

Ok that makes sense.   So I could not take any PCP to an event they have to be pre approved.

Can't use a specialized rifle in the "sporter" class unless it is approved.

You can enhance the trigger by installing one of this instead of a regular set screw for the trigger mod. Lighten up spring and you can get 2nd stage feel more pronounced.

HAve one...only two things that keep me for whole-heartedly agreeing to th Challenger PCP are (1) the price and(2) the "boobie-trap-in waiting" of the straight pull bolt's locking system.


Should be enough posts on the Challenger PCP bolt system to keep you busy for a few days if you do a search....it's just "wrong" on several layers.


Cost, all ready to go, is about rhe same as an AA 200T...which is a better rifle by several measurements (accuracy/reliability/simplisity).


The A 200T can be set to work with a low pressure fill,esp. at low power.  No ptoblem getting EITHER of them into the short range groove of 100 shots/ about 5 foot pounds per shot.
