Chinese High Side Filter Dryer Hack

I use the same HF filter between 1st compressor and SB.  I also have the smaller inline ones just before going into SB.  When I see that one changing color, I change them all. 

The zeolite doesn't change color as far as I know, so you would need some type of indicator.  I also suspect (but don't know) that the zeolite doesn't hold as much moisture at low pressure as the standard beads.

While I have plenty of zeolite, plan to keep using the color changing beads in low pressure side.

My 4.5K vessels (numerous) have a burst disks of 7.5K.  I'd say that is what it "should" be.

I will as well- I had the same thought as you after making my post- I'd like some sort of indicator set up.  I'll just have to get a small toaster oven on CL to dry out the media.

I purchased a re-sealable bag of the beads some time ago.  I save the old, and replace with new.  At some point I'll have enough old to get out the toaster oven.  I found used one at the local salvation army shop.  Bought it back then to cure powder paint jig heads.  The wife would not be very keen on have a multi-colored one in the kitchen.

On my tuxing, I checked low side pressure with gauge and got around 80psi. Completely different design so might not translate at all. I haven't checked on my Yong heng.

Hard to tell exactly, looks like just over 5500psi..

My YH has blown two burst discs so far when trying to fill my tanks to 4500 psi. The gauge on the compressor and tank both show just 4500 or close to it when it blows if I am not right on top of getting it shut off right at 4500 psi. Its not over 4700 or even 4600 when it blows.

I have measured the discs that come with the YH to be .005" of brass. I have a 7.5k burst disc that I removed the disc from to measure and its also .005" thick so same discs but the diameter of the hole in the disc housing behind where the disc sits in the housing is a smaller diameter for the 7.5K than it is for the 5k housing. That means there is less support behind the 5k housing disc than in the 7.5k housing so the same thickness brass disc will either blow around 5k or 7.5 k due to the amount of support the disc has on the back side where there is no pressure.

My 7.5k disc has different threads than the YH disc so could not just swap discs. Plan to get some .007' brass shim stock and make a disc from it to raise the burst pressure up to 6 to 7.5K area so it does not keep blowing when filling to 4500 psi.

Did anybody ever figure out what threads are on the end of the filter line. I ran in to an issue today as well where the end would not fit on one of my tanks male end Foster fitting and close all the way.

Threads on the Chinese stuff are 10 x 1mm straight thread. The threads on the JB stuff is 1/8" BSPP and there's a lot of 1/8 NPT stuff out there resembling it all.  Now, just to make life more interesting, the female Chinese Foster fittings don't fit all the way up on the JB male Foster fittings. The JB female Foster fittings work fine on the Chinese male Foster fittings (one heck of a love story, I tell you) 
BTW, the low-side safety-valve thread on the Yong Hing compressor is 1/8 NPT
 ......would be so nice if we could find a supplier of high pressure 10x1mm straight to 1/8"NPT and 1/8"BSPP

I'm measuring ~95psi    .....the Auto-Drain I ordered is good out to ~235psi

Did some shooting with my BT-65 SB yesterday and my buddy was also re-filling his Marauder from my tank also (about 6 fills between us). This would equate to about one 2-day weekend's shooting activity for me. My 97 Cu Ft tank dropped from 4500psi to ~4100psi. With an ambient temp of 33*C, it took 10-minutes to top-off the tank to 4500psi when I got home. The coolant temperature during the fill went from 18*C to 28*C and the max compressor head temp was 54*C.  I could feel no tank heating during the process  .....so, if after a weekend's shooting I put the tank to fill while unpacking the car, the tank would be fully recharged by the time everything is stowed in the house.
I'm pretty happy with the overall performance!

That's good to hear!  I was looking for a way to auto bleed the high side (4500 psi) of my Shoebox.  Maybe I can rig the auto bleed to operate a 6000 psi bleeder valve.

Seems like the bulk of condensate appears on the low side and the cyclone appears to be quite efficient at spinning it down.  Now if they could only produce this compressor with a couple bearings on the con-rod

Make your own filter wadding for the Chinese Gold Filter. Cut a 2" strip and roll tightly. Cut a few 1.35" dia disks too    ....and these can be washed, dried and re-used.
