PP700S-A barrel tensioning help

I have a question about PP700S-A barrel tensioning. After unboxing the pistol I noticed the barrel and shroud were not tight. I removed the cap and shroud and tried to tighten the barrel but it just spins. I removed the barrel and it is threaded. Basically it threads in nicely but gets to a point where the threads are no longer in contact and it is just floating. This makes it almost impossible to get the shroud and endcap to snug down firmly. Is this correct, am I missing something?

Side note. I have the .177 booger version and now this one in .22. These guns are awesome! The square shroud version in .22 packs a real punch. The open sights are basic but perfect for what it is. I cannot wait to take it out for squirrels. I have not run it over a chrono but at ten yards it is completely flattening 25grn JSBs.

Barrels threaded BOTH ENDS ... It needs to be FULLY threaded into Breech end Thimble first, Then the Muzzle end cap compressing shroud.

Found the problem. The barrel threads in a collar, the collar is actually the piece the breach seal sits on. This collar has two flat sides as if it was meant to have set screws throught the breach to keep it from rotating. Without this collet locking in place there is no way to tighten the barrel. Guessing the collar on other guns fits into the breach tightly, press fit.

Gave the collar a smear of super glue. That was enough tension it get thing tightened up correctly.

Aceros. This is the second pp700 I have purchased from them. The first one got to me in a week. This one was about a week and a half. It overshot the predicted delivery date and when it got to me it was rewrapped with customs inspection tape.

Now that the barrel is tight I moved on to other items.

Trigger got cleaned and polished. Not match level but pretty "dang" good.

Knocked the grip open more to give more room for loading. Easy job cutting/shaving the plastic.

Last was lowering the front sight. It was shooting a few inches low at twenty yards. I filed about half the thickness of the front sight base. Now it hits poa at twenty yards.

I feel for you guys waiting but it will be worth it. For the price these things rock!

I like that idea. I'm planning on trying a Pelletpen for loading.

Ugh...the wait is getting more difficult with every thread i read

I'll be doing the same mods and putting a tin of pellets thru mine before adjusting anything.

I got my pellet pen from PA today, have a couple different red dots and scopes to try out. I just need the dang gun!

I would be interested to have any of you push pellets through the barrels. Mine has a funky feel. The lead in is loose then it gets really tight then loose again and right befor the end it goes really tight again. It doesn't like the 15grn JSB. They are a little loose going in. It does shoot the 25grn JSBs well, they have a more snug fit. Target attached is five shots at ten yards with the open sights.

Already have plans taking it Memorial day weekend camping.....nice little mix of dirtbiking and squirrel hunting 😀 Hope it fits in a back pack!

Can insrt a substitute barrel/rod nd then "^#(*% punch"  (OK...the censor mode of this program scrambled "^#(*% punch"...so call it a thin/sharp/tiny punch) to rasise a few burrs/dimples on the collor if you think what will help.

Have the older "bugger-grip" version with a  multiple hole spacer between the muzzle and the end cap.  Figured the only way to keep the barrel stable as it was issued by by tension.  Basically pulling it up tight by screwing in the shroud end cap so that it pulled the breech end up tight .

With one one you have, think the same would apply,,,but might need a little more "pull" when tightening....so maybe a thin washer/shim between the shroud end cap and barrel?

My green .177 likes the JSB heavies not so much the lighter JSBs.

If you happen to have access to 3d printer heres the front sight that I designed for the gun.

Print a few of these and file them down for different ranges.

Those posted threads are pretty useful    This was my solution to the rear barrel collar.  I made use of those flat spots, and put a set screw on each side.  It stays put just fine now.

Donny it really makes me wonder what their reasoning was behind making the breach cup (or what ever it's called) un anchored.

Me too.  I don't understand it, when the addition of a set screw or two would have been so easy to implement into the design.  Then again, it is kind of hard to complain about a gun at that price with so much potential.  With better o-rings and a few minor changes, people would pay $400+ all day long for a pistol that shoots as good as these do with minimal work.  If I could buy a pistol that I knew could do what mine does now, I would certainly expect it to cost more than these do.
