Ran across a RWS #24 for sale. New in box. .22caliber. Asking price is $125. Is it worth it? And what does this compare to in the RWS line?

A RWS Model 24 is collectible gun Bogey. Buy it at that price. I have seen them go for as high as $300.00 used.

I would say it's worth $125. Closest thing to it right now is the RWS 240. the M24 has a non adjustable trigger, but it will get better with age. Not a powerful gun. .22 probably low to mid 500 fps maybe.

Well Gene, based on your recommendation , I will be picking up the AG tomorrow. Owner says it is still wrapped in the plastic cellophane.
What type of piston seal does it have? And about how old may this AG be? Anyone can answer and feel free to include anyother info.
Thanks Bogey

Let's see, $125 is about what I saw one for, new, maybe ten years ago. Now, depending upon the trigger, it could go as high as $200 or so. I'm not sure which years had adjustable triggers. Both of mine (.177 and .22) are direct sear but not bad. These are great little guns. Even in .22. Build quality is just like a 34's and I will bet nicer than the 240. Great price, especially NIB. They have synthetic piston seals, BTW. The 24 came out after the switch from leather. You can tell the date of the gun by the two sets of teensy weensy numbers on the left rear of the compression tube for MM YY. Good, accurate backyard shooters. Near ideal indoors gun.

Great find Bogey. And brand new in the box to boot. Hard to get better than that.

Mike, did you get it? If not man do I want that puppy! I have a 24 and love it. Mine's .17 and shoots 7 gr at 540. A bit slow I think? For reference my Diana 27 is shown at the bottom. It is a .22 made in 1968 IIRC. Shoots Hobby at 515. I really love the Diana 27!
I think I paid $100 for the 24 and it is not new in the box. The newer RWS 240s are not as nice. The 24 is about 4" shorter than a Diana 34. The triggers aren't bad but the older 3 bearing on the 27 is pretty nice.
Great find!

Andy, I will be going this afternoon 5-8 to get the model 24. Just hoping that it is as cherry as described. Not a rust bucket or slathered with WD-40. If it has been, may try for a lower price. I'm going to try and get some background info on the 24, such as where did it come from, etc, from the seller.
I have a hint that there may be other AGs for sell and I'm going to ask what else may be on hand. Might be more.
Thanks for the comments.

Great find Mike! Get that 24 before someone else does. That is a good price. I do not think it will be shooting in the low-mid 500's in .22cal as HNT5 said, most likely in the 400's, but it should be very accurate. It's smaller and lighter than the 34, so it should be an easy gun to handle.
Let us know how it shoots when you get it and post a pic!
