Looking at a 177 95... QE?

I was looking around at some 177's because mainly I dont have one and wouldnt mind a 177.

I have a 95 in 22 and love it. I was looking at the 95 QE mainly because I know Hatsan uses lead pellets when doing chrono test so the velocities are probably on point.

I was trying to do some reading on the QE in 177 but there isnt much out there on it.

Is the sound with QE 177 close to regular version in 22 as a comparison?

I am looking for something that is going to be backyard/indoors friendly.

I was looking to hear feedback on anyone that has the QE and hopefully has the regular version as a comparison. Also, to keep it quiet would I be limited to the 10+ grain pellets or is the 7.9 and 8.3 not much of a difference in sound

Hi Dave !    I do not have a Hatsan 95 Vortex QE but I Do have a Hatsan Vortex Striker in 177cal that I like a lot. My gun has been installed in an Edge Thumbhole stock and shoots really well out to 35yds or so. This gun is relatively quiet but does not have a sound moderator.   I also have two other Hatsan rifles in 25cal and one of those guns Does have a moderator.     My Best Regards  -  Tom

I have the Hatsan 95 QE in .177 and would say it is a pretty quiet rifle. I don't have a non-shrouded 95 but the QE has about the same muzzle report as my shrouded .177 BT65 and is about half as loud as a shrouded .25 cal AT44 and 2/3 as loud as a .25 Marauder tuned for full power. Hope this might help give you somewhat of an idea comparing to fairly common PCPs that you or a friend may own.

I've shot 8.4 grain to 10.5 grain pellets in my 95 and noticed no difference in sound. The rifle's fps is only in the mid 700s with the 10.5 gr. and low to mid 800s with pellets in the 8 grain range.

 I don't consider spring powered guns loud , unless they go sonic. that usually takes a very light and expensive pellet.

I guess Im a little spoiled by my TX200 MKIII.... That is so quiet the sound of it striking the target is the loudest thing you here

I have  Model 95 .25 with the old style moderator and a Model 87 QE .177 that except for safeties being different and some cosmetic differences are the same rifle. Given, there are some sound differences between the .25 and .177 cal pellets but the QE is not a loud rifle even shooting H&N Sniper Medium 8.5gr's which average 923 fps and RWS R-10 Match Heavy 8.2gr pellets which average 913 and at least in mine are the 2 most accurate. A good part of what you hear is the noise from the action when firing.
If you're at all interested, the 87QE is supposed to be coming out finally in a Turkish Walnut stocked version with an adjustable cheek riser (I wish the 95's had these) although no word on when they might get to the US. Here's a link to the rifle and specs on the Hatsan Arms site in Turkey and a pic of the rifle borrowed from them...if you're looking for backyard friendly, the QE will be, it's definitely not a loud rifle whether you get the 95 or decide you want to wait and get the 87.
