Looking to possibly team up a vintage scope with a vintage 50's era Crosman rifle. Saw a Mossberg M4D and it seemed to fit the bill. Any other thoughts or issues?

I like using old scopes on old airguns. I have several. Been keeping an eye out for one of those old Mossbergs. They fetch a good price on ebay if they are in any kind of condition. I have mostly old Weavers, much easier to find. That scope would look great on an old Crosman or Benjamin. Keep us posted...!

I see long vintage Mossbergs and Weavers, which is the best? Never seen either upclose

I've never handled a Mossberg M4, I don't know how good a scope they are. I have Weaver J4's, B4's, a C6, C4, J2.5. A J.C. Higgins that I can tell was made by Weaver. Some are a little cloudy and others quite clear and bright. They all have steel tubes and are pretty durable.

Here are my two latest assemblages. A Crosman 114 with the aforementioned J.C. Higgins scope. The scope closely resembles a Weaver B4 but has a slightly wider eyepiece and a gold anodized turret housing. I am not certain of the origin of the scope on the Benjamin 312. Doesn't quite look like a Weaver. It's marked "Revelation", which is an old Western Auto brand. I paid five dollars for each of these scopes at gun shows. They both work very well.

An interesting aside: The Sheridan intermount fits perfectly between the breech and rear sight on the Benjamin 312. I have a hunch this is not a coincidence.

Hey Terry,
Gotta love those vintage Brookfields too.
The skinny one looks like a 55 Fulton St. NY, while the other could be a 45 Cliff St. NY.
Those were both manufactured before 1890; you can tell because of the very light ice blue/green glass.
They should have swirl start threads and a mold line over the dome

I purchased everything new in this picture of my 77 Bluestreak in 1977, the scope is a Weaver B4

I have a 1969 Bushnell Sportview 4x32 that I bought brand new in the box a few weeks ago.
I promptly initiated when after I leaned my Daisy 131 against the truck while I was setting up the target, it fell over and got a couple of dings.
It's a nice little scope with fine cross hairs, but a 1" tube.

I also very much like the old Redfield Widefields.

Here's another favorite shooter of mine. Second variant Crosman 180 modded for bulk fill. Sears barrel with scope grooves, Weaver J4 in one-piece "tip off" mount.

I like the old Japanese Tasco scopes...currently just have a Hurricane Horizon 4x32 which I am very sure is a Tasco by a different name (1960-1970s)...

I like old Redfields also but so do many others now... they all tend to go for more than they are worth...

Someone knows if this scope is an original Tasco made for Crosman? I pick this one on Ebay mainly for the original crosman mount and the scope was included. it is "4x15 nitrogen filled" and made in Japan.
