eBay compressor

I'm thinking of replacing my water pump with a 12vdc pump. Just don't like the idea of dropping 120vac cheaply made pump into a water bucket. 
Found this one: 
(It's a couple bucks cheaper on Ebay).

My compressor is running fine. I don't even use the water pump when topping-off the PRod from 2000 to 3000 PSI.
It takes about 15 seconds and temperature only gets up to 35C (95F). Not even as warm as my coffee.

Normally I shoot 15 to 20 pellets a week (rodents), so I'm only topping-off the PRod about once a week..

When filling my first time on the 45 minute SCBA tank when the compressor gauge got to 4500 psi my tanks JB gauge showed only 4400 psi so let the compressor run to get a full fill of 4500 psi.  Well right before the tank gauge reached 4500 psi the burst disc on the compressor high bleed block blew and scared the dickens out of me. Replaced the 5k disc with one supplied and was able to fill to 4500 psi with no issue.

I measured the discs at .005" thickness for 5K rating and the 7500 psi discs are .008" thick so may replace the 5k disc with a .008" thick disc to prevent regular disc failures in the future.

I have my return line above the water level so can see a visual stream of water flow at all times.

I am replacing my water pump as I don't trust it anymore. The flow indicator is still another way to also verify the pump is working plus it looks cool watching the impeller turning imo😁

I have no idea what it measures, I'm not pulling it my 4 included spares, are .005.

I have a die punch cutter. If I have a problem with them, I'll order material to cut my own.

Would a small 12volt Marine Bilge Pump possibly be a better choice for you guys? Rule makes a compact 360gph unit or is that too much flow?

I cut new discs for any of the ones I have that blow using a single hole paper punch and have found it to work very well. I have found that a rule of thumb for thickness is .001" per every 1k in pressure you are wanting it to protect and has proved true for me so far. I use K&L brass sheet stock found at most hobby stores.

I trust my JB gauge on the SCBA fill whip over the one that comes on the YH compressor.

Thanks for the info. I was planning on using K&L brass sheet. I'm also in to R/C planes, helicopters and more, used lots of K&L stock over the years.

I also trust my SCBA gauge and the gauge on my fill adapter over the YH. My YH gauge reads about 200-300 psi high.

I used to race 1/10 rc cars on and off road, mainly rc-10 in the early 80s to mid 90s in Florida. still have my 5 cars and support equipment today.

My scba has its own gauge to show tank pressure and then the JB gauge that comes on  the whip. My compressor was reading about 4600 when the disc blew so it may have been weakened or compromised before I got it. So I guess mine about 200 off since the JB and tanks gauge were at 4400 psi when it blew.

I have to say, the shenanigans with these compressors never ceases to amaze me. I had submitted a best offer for this compressor on ebay, never heard back, emailed, didn't hear back and ended up retracting it because he couldn't confirm shipping location. But last night, the seller sent me this message:

Dear friend
We are very sorry for the later reply due to the weekend.
This product have already sold out and if you need,we can ship from China to you and give you tracking number.The price can USD335
If there is any other question,pls feel free to contact us again

Yet, nowhere on that ebay listing does it say anything about being out of stock and that it's actually going to come from China.... It still claims 8 in stock, in " Los angles"

Just posted this to say that if you're buying from eBay it would be advantageous to contact whatever seller you're thinking of purchasing from just to see if the details in the listing are correct. I've never seen so much misinformation and fraud with a specific niche product like this in my life!! LOL I understand why Bizill was going off after the 3rd "deal" was posted for these.

When I was 17 (1963), working in a Navy FD shop, refilling CO2 cylinders, I made a big mistake with over-pressure discs.
The CO2 pump popped a disc every couple of weeks. Sounded like a rifle shot. Scared me every time.
I replaced a popped disc, with two disc.. It worked! No more blown discs.
A few months later, I was training a new guy. I was telling him to do each step on the check list.
While I was getting a new source tank, he skipped releasing the scale arm lock (and balancing the arm+15 pounds).   
I removed the empty source tank, strapped in a full tank, connected the output line, flipped it upside down.
"Okay, what's next on the check list?".. He started the CO2 pump..
The 15 pound CO2 bottle on the scale was filling up. It went over-pressure, but the pump's double-disc held solid.
I was watching the yellow tip of the balance arm, and it never moved up.. I was reaching for the Off button,
when the 15 pound bottle split open, releasing 15+ pounds of CO2 into the small shop, which was at about 90F.. Instant White-Out!
Sounded like a bomb! Lots of damage (windows, doors & etc) our ears were ringing for a week! Lucky no one was seriously hurt.

I think they are, I just think they're going to ship Fedex IE out of china (not that there is anything wrong with that, Fedex IE is pretty much 5 days guaranteed customs cleared to the states) instead of out of LA. No way that seller is going is risk their 2000 feedback, 3 year history for a scam (at least I can't imagine why they would???)

I just don't like them not disclosing on that listing that they're sold out in LA is all.

I had thought about doubling up on .005" discs awhile back when I had one blow in one of the 90ci bottles I had at the time but decide it to not be a wise idea for just the reason you stated here. I just replaced the blown disc and never had a issue again. I think some discs get overstressed after numerous fills and just give out prematurely. Thats what they are designed to do so it just a fact of dealing with HPA. Rather have the disc blow than the tanks itself.

That's why I only use one disc and never go any thicker than a few thousand from what was in it from the factory.

Yeah, it's smart not to change the spec on the disc. I was a dumb kid and figured it was a problem with the setup.
But, thinking back on it, I was refilling a couple dozen extinguishers daily, mostly with 15 pounds. A few smaller. 
I'm guessing the discs were getting 'worked' during each fill. After metal is worked, it can break.
Heck, maybe I was over-tightening the bolt on the disc.?.
Every day, I was emptying out about 300 pounds of CO2 in front of the fire station. Then I would start re-filling.
I had to get another trainee, the forgetful guy didn't work out.

Hello all,

I'm new to this forum and wanted to mention that I did get the Yong Heng compressor off ebay a few weeks ago from a vendor named nice-shop2 for $357.69. I was originally going to have it shipped from China but after I paid for it the vendor contacted me and offered to ship from LA. So after agreeing I got it just 2 days later. I did get the Chinese high side dryer and the molecular sieve. Thanks to those who provided the links on this forum. I tried to copy Mukilteo's idea with the red wagon but the wagon I ordered from ebay smelt so badly of a cross between gasoline, mothballs and model airplane glue that I tried to return it. But eventually got tired of playing tug o war withe the vendor that it now sits in our tool shed still in the box. I ended up buying a Gorilla Wagon from Home Depot and have it set up pretty much like Mukilteo's set up. The only trouble I had with the compressor was connecting the air hose to the connection and getting it to seal.  Not realizing at first there is a Delrin washer inside to the connection, I was afraid of stripping the threads.  So now I have it snugged up with some plumbers tape with most of the pressure on the Delrin washer.. Seems to works fine. I use a 1 gallon bucket with ice and just top off my guns when needed. I do have 2 steel 3500 psi scuba tanks I had been using before getting the compressor but since I plan on getting back into scuba diving some day I wont be using the compressor to fill the tanks. Soon as I figure out how to post pics I'll show it.
