eBay compressor

I got a gallon of AW46 hydraulic oil I ordered shortly after ordering the compressor.  So, now I have oil, but no compressor!  I guess I'm ready for when I do find one...

Hey Mike..
Do that a few times and just bleed it off to chase all the oil out of the system. Then check your filters.

Ok got the initial break in runs to iron out any issues and had a few small leaks to fix with new o rings. Filled my first tanks with it starting with my 80cf scuba tank to 3500 psi.

Started with 3000 psi in the tank, compressor at 25C with gallon ice jug in bucket, ran the compressor for two 15 minute cycles to fill the tank to 3500 psi, temp climbed to 62C after 15 minutes then allowed to cool back to below 30C then second run cycle to 3500 psi and 62C temps. Total tome to fill 30 minutes. No moisture from tank when bled off, slight water vapor from compressor high side bleed at both the end of first cycle and second cycle big gold filter is working fine.

45 minute/66cf SCBA tank from 3900 psi to 4500 psi, run time of 15 minute to fill to 4500 psi and a temp of 28C at the start to 62C at the end of the fill. Same as before for no water vapor from tank bleed but water vapor from compressor bleed.

90ci buddy bottle from 3500 to 4500 psi, run time of 5 minutes to 4500 psi and temp of 28c at start to 59C at end of fill. No water vapor from the tank at bleed and slight water vapor at compressor bleed.

Overall very happy with this compressor right now and its nice to be able to fill all my tanks in less than two hours versus all day with the shoebox.

Here is pics of my setup with the gold filter and needle valve after the gold filter so I can isolate the tanks from the compressor to allow bleeding of just the tanks and hose after the valve so no moisture can migrate from the filter to the tanks easily.

Your fill times/temps mirror mine, one addition. I also have a 30min SCBA, about 10 min to top off 3800-3900>4500.

these are good compressors IMHO. Use them as they were designed, keep them reasonably cool, should last a good amount of time.

Yes I agree with all you said and believe that heat will be the killer for these if allowed to overheat repeatedly. I am going to add some charcoal to my filter and add another gauge between the gold filter and the tanks or guns to monitor the pressure better due to a better gauge that was on the shoebox. It also has another bleed valve in it so I will have several points of control for releasing pressure from the system.

Wouldn't running ice water through these at those temps cause condensation inside the compressor?

I do open the bleed on the compressor after I have filled the tanks and bled all pressure off. It should make no difference if you run it at 0 psi with bleeds open or open them with the compressor still running. The high pressure bleed off should remove most all moisture if opened up to a high speed blast during bleed off. After I have closed the tanks valves and bled off the pressure from the tank side of the on/off valve I open the compressor valves wide open for a high pressure exhaust flow of air.

The water is not ice cold as the head temps before starting to fill is only 24C or so but even if colder the running of the compressor with bleeds open should remove any residual moisture. I guess time will tell with that if longevity suffers from it or not. The 3 gallons of water in the bucket melted the ice in the jug pretty quick so it never gets really ice cold but just keeps the water from getting warm to the touch.

Well I think I'm actually in this time. Just ordered the hardcover model for $327 shipped from this store. Says 10 days or less to the U.S. and lots of orders.

I'm pretty sure this is an actual seller with actual compressors.... I think. I will believe nothing until I actually have the compressor hooked up and compressing (hopefully) clean, dry air into my scuba tank (top off of course, it's sitting at ~2400 psi right now).

Yep got to love technology and manufacturing progress to allow the prices to come down drastically in a few years. That and the up surge in air gun sales and use creating more demand than supply which is always a good thing. Competition breeds innovation.

Had the water pump stop pumping and this flow indicator reveal it. Second time this has done this. The pump lost its prime. I just reprimed and it is working again. I'm going to order a new pump.

Ken, that is a very wise suggestion and necessary item. I have one on my compressor and I have seen the pump loose it's prime 3 times and that little gadget extended the compressors life. Bob

I haven't had my water pump stop yet... I keep the return line clipped to the top of my container. The end is above the water line, I can easily see if flow stops and its one of the many things I'm constantly watching

I did have my first event today. About ten minutes into a scba top off, I looked over at my timer to see if I was close to a water bleed, just as I did POP!!! didn't see what caused the pop. Shut the tank valve, opened the bleeds and shut off the compressor. didn't see anything wrong, all connection made, nothing looked out of sort.

So, I flipped the compressor back on, let pressure build to about 1k, shut if off and immediately found the leak at the black pre-filter, O ring blew
