Out of the box this thing's a real hoot! Within the first few shots I could see the potential. Yup, the 10/22 of the CO2 pistol world (with a very low entry fee).
 After spending some time around here, I took to the net and rounded up a batch of parts to do what I read as "basic" or "field prep" mods to the Crosman.
I went for the Crosman "long" steel breech kit, A thick, polished stainless sear, a nicely turned brass adjustable sear spring*, A well-made "long-nose" brass bolt, a slim stainless bolt handle, and an alternative to that really pricey rear sight recommended for this breech upgrade**. Finally, to see if it does anything or not, a "power screw" and hammer spring kit. I haven't clocked the gun but with the power screw all the way in, there IS a perceptible rise in recoil.
Not too much to do, really. Swap out parts, a little stoning of surfaces and things are much-refined in short order. Being so crude, these guns really respond to some TLC. The trigger's about 4 lbs. and fairly crisp.
Over all it's much-improved and I like it, thanks for all the gracious enabling!

* : Don't waste your money on this. The adjustable spring fails to soften the sear load below the pressure of the stock spring(at least to my perception). I used the stock spring and performed the "two-minute sear spring mod" as seen on Youtube.
** : Really disappointed with this sight recommendation. No way this works on this breech without a WAY taller front sight(even with the supplied ground-down screw). (Not the "wee-bit" claimed by the seller).(I like the factory sight with the added glow-stick). Too bad cause it's a pretty decent piece for low-end Chi-com. I gain an inch and a half of sight radius with it and the notch is tight. (the old Chinese adage "that which is cheap is expensive" comes to mind.                                                                                       :

This is where it starts... one day you can't believe that anyone would pay $40 for a LPA MIM rear sight, then 2 months later you're happily paying it because you realize it is the best low profile sight you can buy for the 2240 at any price.

I wouldn't be too surprised to find that you'll be upgrading the trigger group to the PROD trigger group. I polished all my stock parts, but there is absolutely no comparison to the PROD trigger group.

How true it is. I had a 2240 setting around for a while getting dusty until I installed a Prod trigger group. It was an unbelievable instant improvement.
Than the addition started, new steel breech, 14" barrel, 2250 longer air tube, modified air valve, new forearm, SSG, modified hammer and shoulder stock.
It ended up small, light and sweet to carry in the woods to play. You can't look at the bottom line $$$ but look at the flexibility. I hate to say it but I'm now adding a Hpac HPA tank to use for cold weather hikes. I know it's a sickness. Bob

You guys have it right. Interesting that the Crosman breech has that unique half-inch(?) cut for a low-pro sight. I wanted to put a white-outline sight on there but it's a .332 or so base. Yeah, I ordered up the usual one. I'm trying to "restrain" here. I'll get that sight on there and work with it for a while. I have a load of pells to test in the lab. those results will likely be in update #2. So far, it's fun. I don't need too much encouragement

I have a few Prod triggers on 22XX and 13XX pistols, very nice.   For a low-cost mod on a standard grip frame, polish the trigger to sear and sear to hammer points; for a MUCH lighter pull, use a #6 hardware store spring ($0.75) with perhaps a coil or so cut; make a spring guide from 1/4" clevis pin for the top of the spring and polish the head.   The last point helps the way the spring drags on the sear.  The sear is a distorted stamping, polish (perhaps start with a file) the sides to flatten it.   Shim the trigger and sear to center them with brass or plastic washers.   Not a match-grade target trigger, but a long way from stock feel.

Craig I've got an old kitchen hone stone that is like a tear drop shape with a handle on it that I've been using to polish trigger parts, seems to work really well.

+1 more for the trigger / sear polishing. I found a set of small diamond files that are perfect for the initial rough work, then finish with some oiled 800g wet / dry sandpaper for it.
