Regulator question

I have a disco double tube and a regulator I bought back in 2014 or very early 2015 (cant locate my email receipt to be certain though think it was 2014)
anyway ... this reg requires a breathe hole in the air tube. back when I first got it I was unhappy with the ES I was getting so tossed it into the parts bin.
I installed the 3kpsi screw set into the disco and though I would try the reg one more time.
I am currently testing at 2k ps .. with a reg set point just a hair under 1600 psi
when I shoot it takes roughly 90 seconds to reach about 1550 psi (assuming the psi is linear between 1500 and 1600) ... it takes nearly 6 minutes for it to reach the original set point.
I did take a video of the guage to get a more accurate timeline and once it is on my pc I can be more certain. viewing it on my phone it looks like at the 6 min mark is where it is back
if it I just a faulty reg, or "normal" for one that needs the hole in the tube, then I will toss it aside and think about a huma. I have huma in my mrod ad prod and have been happy. I was just trying this reg one last time.
my question is ...................
what would cause it to take that long to return to the set point ?
thank you for any insight you can offer.

Please specify whos regulator you have.
Snoop around this guys site.
He has a video explanation of what happens when you don't drill a breathe hole.

Regulators take a few seconds to get back to their setpoint.... but most are in the 5 sec. range to within 25 psi, and right back to their setpoint within 10 sec.... some even faster.... Anything you have to measure in minutes is unsuitable, IMO.... The regulator should respond fast enough for a carefully taken followup shot, such as you might take at 50 yards.... If you are taking a rapid followup at close range, within a few seconds.... that 25 psi won't matter.... IMO....

Thank you everyone for the responses. I did not think it mattered what reg i am using since it needs a breathe/vent hole I figured the information was unnecessary, however since it seems to be important it is a MILO reg for my disco double tube.
Jim - There is a breathe/vent hole. Thank you for the link I will see if it has answers.
Bob - Thank you. I agree that the 25 psi is not much. It was the ~6 minutes to reach that last 25 that has me ... hmmm .. perplexed
Thanks again everyone.

Having and using a couple "Milo's" .... this regulator typically has an unrestricted intake to the seat & flows FAST !!
"IF" the adjustment bonnet was overly tightened in an attempt to get a setting the seat itself may be damaged and what your seeing in realty is a set point as adjusted being lower & reg is creeping to the higher pressure where seal finally can make a seal stopping any further rise in pressure. * Actually the most likely IMO.
Another being "IF"a lagging reset my guess would be o-ring sticksion / drag keeping the spool from free motion.

I dug out another of the MILO regs I had and after finally getting the 1600 psi set point I wanted tested at 2k then at 3k psi.
here is the 3k psi string .... I shot past where it fell off the reg just to see how it fell off ... I am quite happy with the ES and shot count.
