I may just send this thing back. I can get the Benjamin for $130 on Amazon and there is a $20 rebate. I'm not too pleased with this pump. The brass fittings are worrisome. Also when I opened the black case it came in, my pump was covered in water. Is that normal? The first few times I pumped it, water came out of the hose - this isn't normal right?

Yeah, that ain't good. Pretty sure I don't want to pump water into any of my guns. Really sorry for you but I hope it's an isolated occurrence. I've been on a pretty good streak of getting what I pay for. Hope all that don't come to a screeching halt. I do have a situation right now concerning the USPS but I'm not going to go into that until it runs it's course.

I've bought two of the clone pumps the first one was quite some time ago (long before this thread began) and it's a TAOUSA which was around $120 shipped, this pump came with two different female quick connects and the one that was already on it I had to change to the other one supplied.   I've pretty much been using this pump exclusively and it has worked flawlessly on my Disco, Prod, Hipac'd 2240 and Mrod.

   The last one that I bought was basically a no name pump (same basic G6 clone) and this one shipped direct from China, it came with an extra oring kit and a bunch of the filters (look like cig butt filters), this one too fits and fills all my Benjamin & Crosman guns and works great as well. I put this one back in the box after trying and am keeping it as a backup.  This one was $80 to my door.



   Since buying my last pump I put together an SCBA tank setup and really love it, I only have to drive three miles to the dive shop where they fill it to 4.5K for $5.  I also bought another SCBA tank which I'm going to cascade with the first to put unused air in from the other tank for the lower fills (2K) I still need one fitting to complete this one before using.  Both of these tanks were completed for around $180 (tank, fill fittings and gage)





My very first hand pump was one that came with my Benjamin Discovery in the combo deal from Crosman.  Since then it didn't take long after filling 3K guns and the pump literally gave out, they're really not a good pump for anything over a 2K fill and I doubt they'll last long.

I contacted the ebay seller and they have offered a $25 refund...so I'd only be out $45 if I choose to keep it. What would you do? Where can I get the fitting I need to attach it? What size do I need? Will any type of store locally carry this?

I'd take the $25 and search ebay for the right fitting. Or take your gun to Fastenal and fit it for a connector. I think I would go in and ask about it before you walk in packing a gun. Never know when you might run in to an over achieving store clerk.

Open up the fitting and you will see why it is not fitting. The holes for the ball bearings are most likely drilled all over the place. If they charge $25 for restocking, use that money to get a replacement hose assembly (which is a complete replacement) for $19 shipped. I would try to get a full refund first because if the description says it should fit foster quick release, it should!

This is an issue of QC, not the design itself. Now that I am using the replacement hose, the pump has been working fine for the most part. The only other issue was the relief valve leaking a little at pressures over 3200 PSI. I polished it and now it is working just fine up to 3500 PSI.

Regarding the Benjamin pump, I killed mine within weeks of pumping a .25 mrod. Opened it up to change the o-rings only to find that o-ring material got "burned in" onto the surfaces of the pistons/tubes. Even Hill pumps have their own problems. My Mk3 had the aluminum block (containing the check valve) fused to the brass body apparently due to oxidation and moisture/water collection.

At least with a $72 pump, even if the pump is completely destroyed, it is $72 and not $200+!

That's the exact same thing that happened to mine, ripples in the tubes where the orings gouged in.

that is same pump as mine, I hope these newer generation pumps last longer than the older hill/benjamin types.
they are obviously of somewhat different design and all stainless too.

This is so dumb. I just want to buy something that works that I don't have to tinker with. I am not the tinkering type. The only hoses I can find are shipped from China. I'm not willing to wait that long.

About the female foster, you have to be careful about the threading. I think the Chinese fittings use a different fitting than those used here. I am guessing the $72 pump hose uses BST as opposed to BSP threading.

I posted earlier today on the thread about "$70" eBay pumps which is I presume, the same type pump.  My pump cost $70 or $72, don't recall. One thing I'm certain of, the hose threads are not tapered on mine. BSPP.

I had the same problem with the Chinese pump female QD fitting not seating all the way with the Air Venturi 1/8 female BSPP / male QD adapter for my Hatsan fill probe. I found that a 1/8" BSPP female QD fitting would not thread on to the Chinese pump hose fitting. I think the hose fitting is a metric thread which is not the same as 1/8 BSPP. I did find that it was the same thread as 1/8" NPT but it is not tapered. I fixed the problem by buying a 1/8" NPT female to QD fitting. The fitting wouldn't screw on the hose far enough to seal against the delrin insert because of the taper so I added a small o-ring behind the delrin insert and it sealed perfectly. I purchased the same ebay item Robert. I also locally purchased a 1/8 bspp to 1/8 npt adapter. I inserted the delrin seal from the $72 pump's brass qd into the adapter then threaded that onto the hose. The qd you and I purchased from eBay threaded onto the adapter . I had no problem threading the bspp on but the seal was definitely required to seat the adapter. I have no idea if the threads are metric or sae but they for sure are not tapered.
I havn't pressure tested yet as I need to modify the supplied plug for the new qd fitting or purchase a new one.
The eBay fitting you mentioned is a quality piece from what I can tell. It fits the Disco fill perfectly as well as another Parker and a Foster qd on hand. I had also considered doing what you did, in lieu of the additional bspp adapter. I asked in the other thread and now here too, does anyone know a supplier for the small white delrin insert seal used in these $72 pump hose fittings?
