COMETA LYNX V5 MKII .25 mini review

Recently purchased a New COMETA LYNX .25 off the GTA swap. Lynx models are easy to find in .22 & .177, this .25 was ordered from previous owner direct from Spain with optional 11 round mags. Just thought i'd document some of my observations since there's been very little info available on the characteristics of the .25 cal Lynx.

- Total length: 98 cm.

This is my 1st Regulated / Adjustable Power / Bottle PCP and boy this is nice! I mounted to 40mm Optima Scope and started testing. Rifle power adjustment screw is located at end of the breach. I found every complete rotation of the adjustment screw up or down yields +/-50 FPS. When testing with .25 gr JSBs the Lynx can ranged between 600-805 fps on low to high power settings. The .25 Lynx comes standard with a precision metal rotate in/out single-shot loader that works great or it can be removed to use optional 11 round magazine. Mags are made of plastic typical common industry design and they lock in very solid. Lever action bolt works very smooth, trigger and safety function fine for test purposes. May lighten the trigger up I run a few tins of pellets through.
`HIGH POWER' Setting;
The rifle came tuned for max power/FPS. Chrony testing with 25. gr JSB Diablos yielded 805 FPS avg of approx. 30 quality shots on 200 bar fill. Since its winter in Mi. I've been shooting down my basement at 10 & 20 yards depending on rifle. At 20 yards on max power the JSBs group incredibly well with just a blur of almost hole-in-ones. Can't wait to try it max power on my 30 yard outdoor range when weather permits.
`LOW POWER' Setting;
The full shroud on the Lynx does a great job keeping noise down for indoor shooting. Since I'm shooting indoors I decided to detune the rifle to lower the noise level hitting on the trap end and document the shot count increase.
Turning the adjustment screw all the way out approx. 4.5 turns, lowers the JSB diablo pellet speed down to 600 FPS avg. At this speed I went through 8 full mags(88+shots) from 200 bar fill before the regulator starts drops off. Incredible shot count for a .25 cal rifle! However accuracy drops off quite a bit on low power observing 1.25" groups at 20 yards on low power.
I found for basement shooting sweet spot to be around 650 FPS to keep noise down with good accuracy at 20 yards. The Lynx bang for the buck factor is incredible when compared to euro high-end rifle with same architecture. I was thinking of upgrading the bottle to the larger volume heavier V10 platform(400cc). However, after exploring shot count to power level ratio I decided it wasn't necessary.
FINAL THOUGHTS;
Overall so far, I'm very happy with my new regulated COMETA .25 cal Lynx. The rifle offers features and the setup versatility of euro rifles at a fraction of the price. Surprisingly accurate and very high quality rifle for hunting or indoor/outdoor paper punching.

Hi there! Have you been able to shoot outdoors at some longer distance? How is the quality on these?

Wow! Much nice looking that I would have thought. Please try shooting at longer distances and see if the barrel will hold tight groups at 50 yards.

The quality on this rifle is incredible. Excellent value for larger cal. tank rifle. I'm off during the July 4th week an plan on doing some bench rest testing from 30-50 yards. I'm confident it will do well.

Spent some time on my outdoor 30 yard range last week. I had no problem putting together 3-5 rounds groups that I could hide under a quarter with 25 grain JSBs.
Also took out a large chipmonk with a 20yard neck shot. Pellet went in and exited the animal hitting a tree 30-40 yards out still with some force.
The power of this rifle is so deceiving because of the great full shroud baffling system. Its so backyard friendly! I'm hesitant at taking it out to 50yards because I don't feel I have a proper scope on it to give an accurate assessment for that distance.
