Pipe Insulation Foam Pellet Holder?

I've searched for  and read some about folks using these things wrapped around their scopes to hold their pellets.
Can someone please explain how you make the holes in the foam?
I can't figure out what "holds" the pellet in the foam so they don't fall out.
Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Use a hole punch slightly smaller than the pellet diameter.

I use a Dremel with a 1/8" rotary file.

Oooo, Sweet.
Isn't it alot of trouble to get the pellets out of the foam?
Do you have a problem with the pellets dropping or falling out?

I like this idea as well.
I uderstand making the hole a tad bit smaller than the pellet would hold it in and all
But this is my question if they are flush...

I think I'd crush the skirt try to get them out.

Thats what I was thinking when I asked if they were hard to remove from the foam?

Ya know, this idea got me to thinking.  Could the same type of insulation for pipes also be rigged as a sound suppressor at the end of a barrel?  Any thoughts on this as I start looking for some appropriate insulation at the hardware store?

Just get a standard mouse pad. They are shallower then a standard pellet, so the skirt isn't below the surface. No problem to get the pellet out. The foam compresses, and you can grasp the pellet with ease. No need for more then a strip with 10-15 pellets and just attach it on the breach. I inserted two neodym magnets in a slit of the pad, at the ends.

It holds fast and doesn't look like the insulation wrapped around. That is not attractive.
