Turns out that matching the Magpul FDE might be a bit of a trick. No formula in the SW data base. Absolutely nothing even in the ball park in any of the stock color chips. Looks like it's a full on custom mix.

Does using one of those color scanners like they have at Lowes help get to a mix that will work? 

Just walk into the store with the gun.  I'm sure you will get some attention!

How about checking out Cummins and their Beige Diesel Engine color ?   Might be real lose to, Flat Dark Earth. You could also check Military Colors.  As I recall, the Army Really Likes to Paint Things.  Just some lame suggestions from a "color challenged" guy who can't paint anything without getting paint all over everything else.    Tom

Sherwin Williams has a formula in their house paint line but not in the automotive line. Tints are different so no go on crossing over. We have a color gun much like what Lowes etc... uses to match house paint but not enough surface area on these pieces for the gun to work right. We'll mix by hand. Not a huge deal just takes time.

After 2 hours of color tinting without getting anything that will work, I'm thinking that I like those pieces black more and more.
