Thanks for posting your target Cliff, and great shooting by the way!  I thought you were a member here and actually searched your name but couldn't find you.  I forgot the screen name you used here but I knew I had seen that goat before lol.  I'm tempted to get out the chainsaw and clear a path so I can shoot from inside like that.  I actually can shoot from just inside my backdoor but with the angle I'm at can only get out to 30 yards.

Definitely get out the chainsaw! lol. I'm gonna break mine out soon and widen the path. I can get out to 100 yards but it gets kind of narrow and it's wet out back there. I'm thinking I'll knock down a couple of trees to widen it out and at the same time use the logs from the trees to make some walking ramps so I don't have to get my feet wet walking back there.

Anyway, the weather was great again early this morning, no wind. I got right up and shot two more of the PCP 10 dimes challenges at 50 yards. I was pretty happy with the first card, which appears to have about 4 or 5 misses that didn't touch a "dime". As far as I can tell the second one looks even better and a big smile on my face. Great way to start the day! :-)

Wow, some more very good shooting Cliff!  That's one heck of a rifle have you stretched her out to 100 yet?  I'm having trouble holding real tight groups past 50 but I think it's me and not the mutant.  Also I could probably use a bit more mag. then 12x but I like the scope so much!  It's so clear!

Thanks Tweeter!! yes I've been out to 100 yards. It groups from about 1.25" to 1.75" with some outliers on each end. I don't get out that far often but I want to spend a little more time practicing further out when the weather gets better. 100 yards is more than twice as hard as 50 yards in my experience.

Not 50 yards, its 143 feet from muzzle to target indoors shooting corner to corner in my studio...   crazy how much more accurate it is indoors vs outside even when it feels like there is absolutely no wind
BSA T10 on a sandbag tethered and regulated form a Guppy tank.... yeah yeah I know thats cheating         

I dont know the exact distance of the second picture of targets... its around the same but wanted to show the difference in pellets in the BSA, from my friends Marauder the results are the opposite the
coppers are great and the JSBs went all over the place.

Ok, I am working on this 400.  It isn't where I want it but I can see I am getting closer. 

Here is my attempt at shooting dimes.  Very little wind today, just a kiss on the cheek occasionally.  I'm shooting JSB 18 gr 5.53 (didn't know 5.53 until I emptied the tin) at 880 average.  I shot at 16x on the scope.

Nice shooting guys!  Yes it doesn't take much wind to throw off your shots.  Especially when your trying to hit such a small target at 50 yards.

Cliff, I agree 100 yards for me is about 20 times harder than 50!  Lol   I have more fun shooting spinners at long range than I do paper, but that's only because it's easier for me.

RLB, that is some impressive shooting for 143 feet, that's still 47 yards!! Even with shooting inside those are some tiny, very consistent groups! I'd not part with that gun if I were you.

Brett, that isn't bad at all, shooting outside with a breeze! You'd be shocked at how much even just a gentle wind pushes the pellets at 50 yards. If I'm going to be punching paper I pretty much always do it first thing in the morning, very early when there is basically no wind so that I know for the most part, whatever happens is between myself and the gun. I'm glad you're getting that Royale sorted out. Did you do anything to it to improve your results? Polish the bore, etc.?

Tweeter, I think you and I have similar shooting styles, I also have spinners out past 50 yards that I like shooting because it's easier and more fun haha

I have no idea why but I can hit a 1 1/8" spinner A LOT more consistently than I could ever hit the same size target on paper.  Shooting actual objects is just easier IMO.  No clue why, I don't argue just go with the flow.

I cleaned and polished the bore.  I saw immediate improvement but then the groups seemed to start to open up.  I got the chrony out and ran 10 shots across it.  It was shooting 825 average with 30 fps spread and 11 SD.  I lubed the hammer/spring set up and tried adjusting the tension up.  only 3/8 of a turn in to bottom out and only a 2 fps average gain.  I added a spacer to the spring and set it two turns out from all the way in.





That brought the average up to 885 then 900 then 930 with 18 gr JSBs.  It kept creeping up so I started to adjust the tension from there fiddling with it until I settled at 880 fps and a 19 fps spread and 7 SD.  Not great but better.  It was most consistent numberwise at 917 average, 6 fps spread and 2 SD but it was a scatter gun.  After getting all this dialed in and the groups started getting better, I finished off a tin of pellets.  I opened a new tin and noticed that the head size was 5.53.  I was seeing some promise with 5.52 16 gr so maybe if I can get some 5.52 in the 18s, maybe that will be the ticket!  I may just start using the 16 grains and tune the power to see if I can get better groups with them.  I have one other gun that is finicky on head sizes so this one might be good with standard 5.52.   I know that magic combo of pellet and speed is out there, just got to find it....

Yes, both of those targets are at 50 yards.  One was the 400 and the other was HW95

Wow weeee!  That target is quite a sight to behold.  Superb consistency.  Well done, sir!

One of these days I want to try a long indoor range.  Until then, it's convenient to blame the wind when a shot doesn't land where I wanted
