I think you are absolutely correct, but I think lots of tinkerers will want them too. Adding plenum is something discussed in this very thread and someone will surely make a big bore out of it.

I guess my preference is for a wood stock (old school) like on the QB's and a Single Shot is Just Fine with me.  One of the big usability factors of the QB's is that even though their all wood/steel, they only weigh 6.5 lbs un-scoped.  If you make your own custom stock or buy one oniline, you can get a beautiful Walnut stock (aka:restern) and outfit you QB to HPA for less than $300.  However, that includes a lot of tinkering time + DIY -> LDC.



The $160 version + DIY-> LDC+RVA.

Your QB seems very  good.  Which is your FPE and air  pressure?

My QB78D .177 has  1500 PSI and shoot only 15 FPE therefore I am thinking to add  TSS and adjustment screw for  increase  efficacy too . 

To make magazin at home is verry easy .

It's already in the works here. I am building a drop in set up for it, out of parts I have on hand. I'll start a thread on it, soon. I asked about parts, on PA's Gauntlet page, and was told it is a 79, dressed up nicely.

Reminds me of when Ford hung onto carbs, in their Mustangs, longer than any other model, and stated it was to allow and encourage customer mods. Some guys (that would be us) just can't leave their stuff alone.

Unless they have done a good job of hiding it, larger calibers may disappoint from lack of plenum volume....

My QB's have a set point of 1350 to 1525 psi.  In .177 caliber you should be able to get 20 FPE pretty easy.
This would require you to increase barrel porting, and bolt probe to .14" and make something similar to rsterne's Maxi Valve.  I think you'll need a little more hammer to.

Sorry, I had meant to respond to this previously.  Did you experiment with spacers to increase hammer spring preload or did you install a heavier hammer spring?  If not, the valve may be only barely opening at 1500psi.  If your porting is around 75% of caliber (i.e. 0.133"), you should be able to get much higher energy.  For example, the .177 QB79 I have set up at 1000psi is producing just shy of 17fpe with 10.6gr Baracudas.

How close does Umarex advertised velocities usually come to real world velocities?   I'm sure some manufactures are more accurate than others.

Also, I watched the video's on Umarex.com and the second video states they are producing the Gauntlet in .25 also but all I see anywhere else is .177 & .22.

according to the airgun depot review posted yesterday on youtube, the gauntlet gets 80 shots at 754 average fps shots per fill.  I'm eagerly awaiting the May launch to see if the numbers and accuracy are indicative of the production run guns.  I have a ninja tank from paintball that is regulated at 850 psi, compared to the 1100 preset on the gauntlet regulator, I wonder if I can squeeze out about 25-30% more shots per tank.

I could have sworn that on one of the first video clips that I seen from this gun they were using a Ninja bottle and reg., if that's the case then you can order a different regulator from Ninja to your own specs.

I'm running my QB78 @ 850 PSI and it averages about 16.75 FPE with JSB 10.34. This was my last efficiency testing run (not good, no SSG yet and she's right at 1.06 FPE/Ci)

My word... this makes this gun an even better deal... You're paying about $210 for the gun considering the PRO V2's are about $90? Since my wife has officially claimed the 850 as her own, I see a .177 gauntlet in my future to round out the herd!

The Ninja Pro regulators are limited to about 1400-1500 psi, because you MUST use the 1.8K burst disc on the output side.... Ninja warn that is required with the rotating collar on the regulator.... which is retained by a circlip....

By the looks of that shot string, just a whisker more hammer strike and the velocity will increase a bit without using much more air.... I say that because of the bump in velocity at the end of the shot string, which indicates a regulated PCP running at the beginning of the velocity downslope.... I would compliment their choice of tune, however, nice to see that kind of tune rather than tuned way up on the plateau and it being an air hog....
