BSA R10 Mk.2 barrel length??

Specs say 18". How do they arrive at that? With the shroud OFF it is  20.5" to front of action and around 24" to actual breech. Have they changed specs over the life of the model?

It should be 18.5".

Not even close. From muzzle to collet at front of action is 19.5", to front of action is 21" and to breech itself(where mag is) is almost 24".

Measure from where the pellet sits in the barrel.

I was talking to another member to day and he asked if the huub shroud would fit because his Fac R-10 .22 has a 24 inch barrel and is not threaded at the muzzle.  Weird, I thought all Fac BSA's had 18.5 barrels except for the scorpion 1200se

Wonder if they have been using 1200se barrels and shrouds on some of the later R-10's?

The 1200SE barrel makes sense. They are 24" so maybe(just guessing here) that BSA wanted to bump their U.S. guns velocity #'s or maybe they just had a bunch of extra barrels.

How much empty space do you have from the end of barrel to end of shroud?  My 1200se had maybe 2 inches if I remember correctly.

My BSA R10MK2 has about 8" from the shroud end to the barrel end. Barrel measures 18.25".

My R10 fac is 18.5". BSA lists the fac as 18.5". Did you buy this R10 new? If not maybe someone else put the scorpion 1200 barrel on the R10.

No matter how you measure it, the barrel is overly long, IMHO.  When I was shopping for my first PCP, the R10 was in my top three.  Just looking at its photos compared to the Daystate Regal and the AA510, I could see the R10 would be the least easy to carry and wield when out pesting.

The BSA R10 MK2 is actually shorter than the AA S510 and the R10 MK2 weighs less than the AA S510. The reason the R10 MK2 looks so long in pics is because its a bottle rilfe so it makes the shroud look like its 3 feet past the end of the bottle. The AA S510 has the long tube under the shroud thats almost as long as the barrel giving the illusion the shroud is shorter on the S510 than the R10 MK2. I own the R10 MK2 and a S510 carbine. I will tell you from personal experience the R10 is just as easy to use out hunting as my S510 carbine and if it was compared to the S510 rifle the R10 would be easier to carry in the field..
