choosing air rifle

Have been considering 3 rifles for pest control and target shooting in .177cal.  Currently looking at the Remington Express, or Tryant or the Ruger blackhawk elite. From what I've read all are close as far as power,accuracy ect. Would appreciate input  on these guns. Thanks

Do you have any experience shooting springers and the artillery hold ?

Either way budget springers often have many problems.
Of the 3 I'd choose the Remington express because it looks much purdier than the other two.
A budget springer definitely wouldn't be my first choice, but if you have to have a springer I'm always hearing great things about the guns tuned by Mike at flying dragon airguns.

I know nothing about the Tyrant.  The Ruger Air Hawk and Black Hawk are Chinese clones of the venerable Diana 34 - which is a great gun.  They are the same as the Flying Dragon XS 25.  My first choice would be a real Diana 34.  Check the Bargain Gate.  One of the vendors had an excellent buy on refurbished ones.

The Remington express is a "kind of" clone of the Weihrauch HW 95.  I understand it's a combination of the two or something.

Flying Dragon has something similar as the XS26.

For good close up pest control for up to 25 yards I'd say go for a good pumper cause you're accuracy will be that much nicer. The Benjamin 392 in .22 would be ideal for squirrels close up and very accurate.

These guns are so good that many if the survival websites recommend owning one or the other. At these prices you can't go wrong.

Despite having several less expensive springers and a very-good-shooting Hatsan 95QE, my 392 is probably my favorite all-around airgun.

I have a Umarex Surge I bought from a member here a few posts up, which is the exact gun as the blackhawk elite and it is just a good gun, not pellet picky and just always seems to hit what I'm aiming at up to 20 yards. Best $50 I ever spent. Thanks again Brett! Hope all is well. I ended up gifting the Winchester to a friend and he caught the addiction worse than me  . My daughter loves the Surge but can't quite break the barrel down yet.

The Remmy Express is a combination of the Diana 34 and the HW95. It is a Diana 34 at the breach end and uses a Diana type piston and breach seal, but it is an HW95 at the rear of the action area utilizing a copy of the Rekord trigger. The trigger is adjustable (see above post). The wood stock is very nice with sharp checkering, a good butt pad, and a good finish, the steel is well machined and nicely blued, at least on the examples that I've seen. The included scope is nothing special, but it did work until I replaced it with something better, but when I mounted the scope on a Hatsan made Webley it died quickly. I have several Remington Express air guns. One shot very well right out of the box, another needed a tune to shoot well, a third shoots OK. I gave one away to my friend to get him interested in air gunning and he really likes it. I would recommend this air gun, especially at the price that it is available for now. The trigger is better than the other guns you list and a bad trigger can discourage a shooter.

I took a chance on the Tyrant in .22 with there being very few reviews when I purchased it. Cost me a whopping 89 bucks and change at the time with 11% off from PA. They've since raised the price. Anyhoo, I'm VERY happy with it! It's light, pretty quiet, has a gas piston and very accurate out to 35-40 yards. It's best pellet are the 15.89 JSBs. It just feels very solid and well put together, more so than the low end Crosman/Benjis and even Hatsans. The synthetic stock doesn't feel hollow although I know it is, no ring in your ear when it's fired. Nice, even bluing on the steel. The cons are the normal ones. The trigger is the exact same as the infamous NP1 Crosman/Benjis which makes it not good. At the same time it qualifies for a drop in CDT GRTIII which makes it outstanding. The scope--I'll admit I never even mounted it but just shot it with the open sights until I put a Hawke 3-9X40 AO on it. I wouldn't expect much out of the packaged one. That's it! An exceptional rifle for the money JMHO.

Of those, I would go with the Ruger.

But Wayne's suggestion of the Benjamin 392 is better, I think. For target shooting, you can just pump 3 times. For pesting, 5-8 pumps.

A tuned one from flying dragon would be my next choice. You don't have to just settle for what's in your local store. If you want to support the local guy, see if they can order you a Diana 34.
