Yep! If your hunting dillos and skunk you really need a 22cal. I put a 177 barrel on my Disco. It didn't stay on there very long. 177 limits your shooting when the wind picks up. you can shoot a 22 further on a breezy day. A 50yd shot with a 177 is pretty hard in a Texas breeze. I grew up in Amarillo Tx. I remember the wind.

I second Nomadic Pirate's advice.
I would recommend the .25 Mrod.
Furthermore, .25 Mrod gives you over the Maximus or Disco:

A better barrel
A shrouded, baffled barrel
A much better trigger
A multi-shot breach
More lethality at any distance

It is a nicer gun in every respect ( stock, breach, bolt, everything ) and it's easily more tunable.
Downside is it's bigger and heavier and not as well suited for carrying around for long periods or freehand shooting.
You would love the accuracy and added punch for backyard plinking and pest elimination.
Airgundepot still has wood stock .25 Marauders refurbished for $420.00 and as Nomadic Pirate recommended, do not waste your money on the Benji pump.

Yep! 25cal Mrod is a GREAT gun. Today I was shredding a pellet tin at 100yds and a tree rat at 117yds with my Armada, a dressed up Mrod. I love 25cal. Those tree rats hate 25cal.

The .25 Marauder you'll be happy you spent a little more once you shoot it. The hand pump is fine to start though I am finding out while not difficult to pump, I am already looking into getting some sort of filling station going as my next project.

I was looking at a .22 marauder refurb that AGD has right now. Want to sell my HW90 first. It will go over easier at home if I sell the HW first.

I have a cheap Barska Winbest pump. Used to be the only thing I had to pump up my FX Wildcat to 200 bar (3000 psi). It would take me a couple hundred strokes, but I get about 50 shots, so it wasn't too bad. When I got my second PCP and started doing a lot of pesting, I bought a SCBA tank as I needed to refill out in the field and a pump wouldn't cut it. Sorry, but I jumped into the PCP world with both feet and didn't start at the bottom. So I don't have any entry level suggestions other then what everyone is already suggesting. Me personally, the Maximus in .22 with a pump is probably IMO the best starting PCP due to the fill pressure and ease of using a pump and less then $300 in most cases. My Wildcat was around $1400, but it is a remarkable piece of machinery. I have a BWalton LDC on the front and it sounds like a mouse fart. Has bout 28 fpe at 50 yards, so it will take 'em down.

All this to say once you go PCP, you're now a part of the darkside and there's no going back...

The .25 has a Green Mountain barrel and is regarded by most as a much better piece. The .22 have had some accuracy problems due to QC that supposedly has been resolved but others may disagree. All I can say is the .25 caliber version is excellent.

If I have seen that before I got my Benjamin Maximus 22, I would gotten it for $199 shipped...repeater + single tray. Got the maximus for $169 shipped...airmax is still a steal from that price.

So I ended up ordering a synthetic stock .25 marauder direct from Crossman this morning. Took advantage of the 25% off coupon and free shipping Fridays. Still need to order a pump and some pellets. Any recommendations on .25 pellets. I have one tin of H&Ns from when I had my Xl 725.

JSB Exact Kings 25.39 grain seem to work exceptionally well for most, myself included. They group amazingly well.
Air Arms Diabolo Field 25.4 are slightly less expensive and nearly identical pellet to the JSB King. Haven't tried them myself yet.
H&N Baracuda 31.02 worked well for me and carry more FPE at longer distances. Good long distance hunter and popular here.
Predator Polymag 26 grain are great for hunting at closer ranges 60yds or less. They make big holes in things and are lots of fun.

+1 on the JSB 25.39 and the 26 grain polymags. I don't have one, but one of the guys who shoots with me swears by both of these pellets exactly as Rivers3Plinker, but I don't think I'd give the polymags even that range unless you've tried them out first. Their accuracy for me spikes at 50 yards; my .30 polymags open up a bit too much past that range for me. I shoot the .22 polymag shorts and the .177 polymags and they open up at +25 yards for me....

You're probably right it's probably closer to 40 yards for me actually. I'm measuring using a WAG but I will say, those pellets are fun to shoot stuff apart with. When they open up they really smash apart stuff and blow big holes in things. GREAT hunting pellet. I hit a rabbit with one and the sound of impact was impressive as was the damage.

Just went evening ratting with night site, FX Wildcat and .22 polymag shorts. That pellet hits HARD.
