That is what I was thinking too...heat application. No big rush because I don't have the pump yet, UPS rescheduled delivery from China.

Does anyone happen to know the ID and length of the tube the hammer rides in? I have an idea but wont be able to open mine to measure for several days. Also how many pounds it takes to open the valve? Thanks.

Can you have good luck with either gun right out of the box ? I don't know anything about pcp guns sounds like you have to work on them to get them to shoot it is making me think this might no be for me I'm looking for a squirrel rifle

They're fine out of the box for hunting.

Chuck, I have a Discovery .22 that I bought new in August, 2013. I took it out of the box and started killing squirrels with it when the season opened. I didn't make any internal changes to the rifle - and it is still an accurate, dependable hunting rifle. [My brother killed three squirrels with it last week.]
In June of this year, I received my new Maximus .22. It is the same story. As of yesterday afternoon, (The Season of the Maximus!) I have taken 13 squirrels with it this season.
Your milage may vary! Good luck with your choice.

straight out of the box the diso or maximus is what you need...this disco is the older one shooting 800-810pfs.i think they great out if the box,i sent one off to be tuned and it not held air since,so my take on it is leave them as they are and take it out hunting.

Been playing with my maximus now that it has a TKO on it. The thing is super quiet and is shooting JSB 15.89's at ~790fps. I'm still trying to figure out optimal fill and shot count before POI changes though. Here's the only string I've recorded with the 15.89's.

Thanks Tater! I'm slowly working up to a 20 post count. I hope to go out later in the week when I don't have work and post some 25 and 50 yard groups. Maybe see if the gun likes any pellets better than the JSB 15.89.

This is excellent performance! My disco wouldn't get anything close to that until Travis at WAR put an SSG in it. Did you make any modifications to the maximus to get that performance curve, or just tuning adjustments?

That is stock. The only thing I've done is put a brass trigger in it and lightly clean the barrel. I'm not positive about the accuracy of my chrony though as it was outside and not sunny. I'll take a few more strings when I pull it out in a couple days. 35 shots was well beyond the curve so I may just fill to 2k and shoot 30 shots. Or 1750-1800 where it seems to be best at.

Killfire, other than the TKO is your Maximus stock? I end up with a higher FPE, but get fewer shots within a reasonable velocity spread.
Mine is modified, but not in ways which should affect velocity (Mine only has TKO, Brass Trigger kit, double barrel band). These numbers are with a slightly lighter pellet (14.66 grain H&N FTT).

Todd, mine is stock except for the TKO and a brass trigger as well. I'll run some lighter pellets through the chrony and see what they do if the weather cooperates. I get the same fpe with the 15.89 and the 18.13.

Per chairgun the FPE is very near to the same. Unfortunately it hasn't been sunny enough out for me to set up my chrono and shoot from a 1750 fill until i get a POI shift. This is all new to me so I'm having fun learning and playing around.

Got done shooting new strings today and testing some pellets. Chronograph was about 4" from muzzle and I was shooting at 25 yards. Unfortunately it was too cloudy to get consistent readings without a bunch of errors.Here's the down and dirty:
JSB 18.1 1750 PSI - 1100PSI
20 shots
740 min 758 max
- Good accuracy. Will test 5 shot groups.

Predator Polymag 1750 PSI - 1200PSI
20 shots (8 errors)
-Too many errors to be usable but seemed to average 775 with a low of 770 and a high of 780. Very consistent velocity curve but lacked in accuracy.

JSB 15.9 1750 PSI - 1150PSI
20 shots (7 errors)
-Too many errors as well. Guesstimate 780 average. Velocities not very consistant but good accuracy. Will test 5 shot groups.

JSB 14.3 1750 PSI - 900PSI
30 shots (23 errors)
-Too many errors as well. The several shots I did measure were about 800 in the middle of the string. Very good accuracy.Will test 5 shot groups.

H&N Crow Magnum 1750 PSI - 1100PSI
25 shots
Average: 722.28
Min: 708 Max: 734
-Very consistent velocity curve but lacked in accuracy.

H&N Baracuda Match 1750 PSI - 1000 PSI
25 shots
Average: 688.92
Min: 672 Max: 699
- Very consistent velocity curve and very good accuracy. Will do 5 shot groups.

Tomorrow I'll probably get around to doing 25 yard 5 shot groups of the several pellets that show promise. Maybe by then I'll actually be able to post pictures as well haha.
