I think that Nomadic Pirate is correct. I did not like the finish on mine or the shape of the stock so I sanded my down, stained it and refinished it. Here is my end results.

Don't get me started on my Marauder stock finish.
Whatever it is, it ripped-off to the bare wood, when I removed a piece of velcro, that my flashlight attached to.
Never saw anything like it. Tip of my stock wasn't finished properly either.
There's more, but I'm tired tonight.

Wade.S where did you get the air extention tube? I've been looking all over for one with no luck at all. I imagine it is a Greg Davis unit but I cannot contact him and his website is down.
I just refinished my Marauder stock and it came out pretty good and will post some pictures soon. I did not like the shape so I sanded it much like yours. I cut 3" of the forend and sanded the cheek piece off the right side just like you did. I manged to save the checkering and had a gunsmith go over it and make it real checkering not just the laser stuff

Markez, I used two coats of provincial wood stain followed by three coats of tru-oil. Between coats of tru-oil I lightly rubbed the stock down with fine grit steel wool. I also removed the white plate between the stock and recoil pad as I did not like that look either.
Norm m, that is a Greg Davis air tube extension. Like you I am also no longer able to open his web page. I also thought of saving the checkering but I opted to thin down the entire stock. I also removed the recoil pad and hollowed out the rear of the stock to lighten it up some. It seems to have made some difference. I wish I had weighed the stock prior to this, but I didn't.

Pretty much anything you'll do in reshaping and restaining will be a huge improvement on the umbelivable horrible design and finish of the Maurader stock

Finally had time t take some pictures. I did one before and I did sand things down a little more and did not keep the checkering but on this one I just wanted to shorten the forend by 3" and give it a nice tru oil finish. I gave it 2 coats of stain, 2 coats of tung oil, 6 coats of Tru Oil and a tru Oil stock wax for a nice gloss finish and I sanded between each coat with #4 steelwool. I also did glass bed the action area so now I can pass a piece of paper under the air tube from the end of the forend all the way to the gauge. So basicaly the air tube is all free floated to prevent any minor expandsion of the air tube from from the 3000 psi air charge from moving anything. With the barrell and the air tube both free floated it gives zero chance of contact sending a pellet off POI, all that is left is the human error issue
