The FWB 300 has a heavy stock because it's designed as a target rifle and because the action itself is heavy. Even the FWB 300 Mini or Junior model is heavy at close to 9 pounds in weight. More importantly, when hunting the Eastern Chipmunk (Tamias Carcharias) it is advisable to use an air rifle with a little more power than the FWB 300's 7 fpe as the beast is known to charge when wounded.
My 300 has a maccari artic spring and will shoot thru a squirrel at 30 yards. Pleanty of power and you can actually hit your target.
Dean,There are much better options for hunting than a 300S.Use it for what it was intended and get a dedicated hunting rifle...-Y
