Yup, I already know. It's all my fault.
I was shooting today and found my groups all going low. Still tight, but LOW. Then, I noticed that the scope mounting rail had slid back on the grooves and SHEARED the stop screw right off. Dang.......and double dang.
So, my new RWS 34 in .22 has a sheared screw in the factory installed groove/rail assembly.
Any ideas? I have just put a nice screw driver on the three Phillips screws and , buddy, let me tell you, they have a trained gorilla putting them in. I'm not crazy about dorking them up.
Thanks in advance for any magic you all might send my way.

Piper,
You might try a very small punch with a pointed end and carefully tap the punch with a small hammer to try and turn whats left of the screw in a counterclockwise direction. I'm assuming it doesn't have any loctite on the threads. One thing you don't want to do is get too close to the edge and swedge the threads to make it tighter. This way you may get away with removing the broken screw and not have to remove the rail. Good luck.

Somebody messaged me and said the screws are peened over inside and WON'T COME OUT. Is there another way to keep this scope mound from sliding back?
thanks, piper

hey piper! welcome to the forum! do you have the T-05 or T-06 trigger? it will say on the top of the reciever. if you have the t-05 you can get the accushot anti-droop rail.

above is a similar thread on this rail
https://www.pyramydair.com/product/utg-sub-compact-ita-red-green-dot-sight-30mm-tube-weaver-picatinny?a=3897
heres the rail...it fits the t-05 NOT the T-06...cheers bart

Are you talking about the large screw at the rear of the rail? Is that what sheared off? If so, those are not scope stops. They are for backing a rear sight. Common to see magnum Diana's with these sheared off.

RedFeather, yes.....the one and only screw sticking up at the rear of the rail. Now that it is out of the way.......what do i use to keep the scope from working it's way back?
thanks, piper

Try these. A lot of people say a lot of good things about BKL mounts.

I have the same model ag as you and I used the RWS one piece mount that has two pins that stick down into the holes in the top of the rail. The only thing for me is the mount is kind of high and puts my scope up higher than it needs to be. Other than that, it hasn't moved at all in about 500 shots.

Theirs only one way I've found to remove a screw in an AG that is so tight a hand tool wont remove, take the action out of the stock find the right size bit that fits the screw go to a drill press pad up the table so you don't scratch up the bluing, put the bit in the chuck of the press {do not ever turn it on} use the handle on the press to put tight pressure down on the screw so it won't slip and I use a strap wrench to turn the chuck by hand this will remove the screw with out damage if its not to soft, if it wont turn easily heat it up a little and try it again, and when this works as I know it will cause I've had to do this many times on tunes I've done to disassemble some guns, {Tip of the week}

I have the UTG 0 droop mount on my 470. I had to mount it backward where the lip is hanging off the back of the rail and then grind out one of the stop pin holes so the stop pin in the mount would line up. Then just cranked and lock tighted it all down. The mount has not moved.

BKL mounts. A little pricey, but they don't budge. I have 4 of them.

Thought that was what you were talking about. I wouldn't worry about replacing it unless it bugs you. No one knows exactly which sight that screw is designed for anyway. Diana should do away with it, IMHO. It's an anachronism in this day of good available scopes. You can always try a decent scope stop. It would mount at the rear of the rail and most likely cover the sheared screw. Most scope mounts have a locking pin, as well. Combined with cleaning the rail with alcohol, then loctiting the rings/mount, etc, you should be good to go.

Thanks guys. Lots of experience and knowledge flapping around on this forum.
I'm about to investigate the factory holes in the rail and the possibility of adding pins to the Scope mount. Just as soon as i can get a minute free.....dang job keeps screwing up my air gun hobby time.

Does your mount have a stop pin? Sometimes they are screwed all the way in so it looks like it does not. If droop's not a big issue, you don like some and reverse the mount, hanging the pin over the front of the rail.
