Just a quick question for future possible giving into the "Dark Side".

I have seen where "Boyd's" gun stocks is offering several replacement models for the Benjamin Discovery (Disco).
I'm under the (possibly wrong) impression that the "Maximus" is a "Discovery" with a longer barrel, a few internal changes, and a more cost effective synthetic stock...

Has anyone tried to mount either a "Disco" stock, or a stock from "Boyd's" made for a "Disco" on their "Maximus"   

Are they the same only different, or just different? 

A "Boyd's" stock would certainly dress up a "Maximus" in a hurry if it would fit...  Just sayin.  BTW, I don't work for "Boyd's" or endorse them in any way shape or form.  I'm just curious for my own possible future needs.

I"m pretty sure they're the same gun internally and yes you're right about it having a longer barrel.  Besides that I think the only other difference would be the stock but . . . . don't mark my word

You might check with Boyd's to get the answer.

You could also check the parts breakdowns for the two guns to determine which parts are the same, as in have the same part number.

Yep...  I checked with Boyd's about a month or so ago, and at the time they said (paraphrasing) that they didn't have enough information yet on the dimensions of the Maximus to have a definitive answer. 

I thought perhaps some of the more enterprising members of this form may have already figured it out...  I own nether of the rifles at this time, so my curiosity was only for future reference.  I don't really want to bother Boyd's or Crosman for information on something I don't even own at this time.  But again, I thought maybe someone here had already been there and done that, so to speak.

Knowing all to well Crosmans practice of recycling parts / pieces to make new models .... pretty safe bet it fits w/o issue.

The EVP's for Maximus are not posted yet, but when they are, it probably will not answer the question.  The Maximus airtube will have a different part number unless it still says "Discovery" on the side.  The position of trigger pack, air gauge, and stock lug may have changed.  Hopefully they kept it the same. 

Need someone to try a disco stock on a maximus, or visa versa. 

Boyds maybe interested in verifying it, but will want an action sent to them.

Yeah, I forgot to add on my last post that I can't cross reference the part numbers because there is no synthetic stock option for the Disco, and no parts list yet available (that I could find anyway) for the Maximus...  Someone with both rifles just needs to see if they will swap out...  I had kind of been hopeful that someone had already tried it.  Maybe this will inspire someone to try?

It should fit and I should have tried it when I had my Maximus for about a week.
I do know they moved the valve back towards the breech and they use a shorter heavier spring. Cocking was significantly harder than the Disco.

The main part of this is the trigger location and gauge location. The trigger which also has the stock lug has to be at the same location. It is as far back as possible on the air tube. As for the gauge there would not have been any reason to relocate it but that would need to be checked.

As far as I am concerned Boyds does a terrible job of inletting their SS Evolution stocks as I have had several for customers and they did not impress me at all. I do not know how they did it but there is a rib down the center of the airtube channel and it does not permit the air tube to rest in the air tube channel like it should. The three SS Evolutions I had were not the only ones with that issue as two of my friends had the same problem. I do not know it the other Boyds Disco Stock Models have the same issue but if the do it is not a good thing!

Just tested both stocks yesterday testing fitment for a Mrod trigger and the Maximus stock fit on a disco. The action sits alittle lower into the stock as I believe the sides are alittle taller or it just sits deeper on the maximus stock which I like. Both are swappable though.
