Drew,What about a 397 with a Williams Peep? It is the same weight as a 30s, but the balance should be a bit rearward, compared to a spring gun - making it easier for your son to hold. It might not be quite as ideal for FT (needing 4 to 5 pumps depending on target distance), but it might be better for pest control. It's also about half the price.I hope to meet you at a future match.Good luck!
Drew,The 30 is not much different than my 35.I have the Williams sight on the back of it:I left the factory rear sight on and just shoot over it:
I don't think he can handle the pumping, or else a .20 pumper would be the one-and-done.If not a match, wanna come shoot squirrels for me? Haha.Quote from: Gear_Junkie on September 01, 2016, 10:00:52 PMDrew,What about a 397 with a Williams Peep? I use the FO front sight with the peep also. BUT, If my eyes where younger I would most likely be using the inserts. The FO front sight works really good with the factory rear sight too. I just cant see those inserts very well anymore. I do think the young man would see the inserts just fine

It's this one: •TG925G - Fits most popular airgun front dovetails and includes optional sunshade. It's a snap to install too.
