Peeps on 30s easy? Thinking of that for my son's first gun

Main question: Is it relatively easy to put on a Williams--and have a front sight with inserts--for a 30s?

I took my son with me to Sunday's FT match, and he really enjoyed it, and wants to shoot, now. EDIT: He just turned 6...

I shot the 54 with peeps that day, so when he asked to shoot it, I had to hold the heavy bugger. He understood "put the circle in the circle, then put the circles on the target", so while I held the gun up he aimed... and hit the target on his last try! He was hooked.

So. I'm thinking of starting him with a 30s, and I want him to learn on peeps, like I did. I thought of a single-stroke, but I want something that he can take pesting with me, eventually (starlings in my walnut huller! Perfect job for a kid with an air rifle.). I'll also have it tuned light by Scott, so he can cock easily... eventually can have a hotter spring when he's older, if the gun even needs it (I think I'll probably leave it light, and get him a PCP... Haha).

Am I way off track?

What about a 397 with a Williams Peep?  It is the same weight as a 30s, but the balance should be a bit rearward, compared to a spring gun - making it easier for your son to hold.  It might not be quite as ideal for FT (needing 4 to 5 pumps depending on target distance), but it might be better for pest control.  It's also about half the price.

The HW30s is the perfect gun. IMO, you can not get much better than a 30 with a peep. You don't need to tune it to be softer. Its easy to cock as is. Mine is tuned for more power and a 10 year old could shoot it. Mine has a PG2 kit and a Williams peep, and it hits what its aimed at. I can not recommend the HW30 enough. Yes on the 30s, comes with multiple inserts. I have  the FP-AG, FP-AG-TK or the Williams Diopter Sight (kind of a pain)on most of my better rifles

I have a Williams peep, high line of sight w/o target knobs, coming from Midway for my 30s. I also put a Tru Glo FO front site on it. Will post how the combo works out.

I use the FO front sight with the peep also. BUT, If my eyes where younger I would most likely be using the inserts. The FO front sight works really good with the factory rear sight too. I just cant see those inserts very well anymore.  I do think the young man would see the inserts just fine

Can you guys tell me which model Truglo FO sight works with the HW30S?  I just looked on their website and only saw sights for handguns.
