I did some searching and found procedure, but did not see if degassing is needed to change Mrod bolt from left to right. Thanks in advance!

Is it NECESSARY? No.
Is it a good idea? Yes.
I can't tell you how many times I have thought I would save a little time by not de-gassing.....and then bumped something wrong, and BANG!.
Save your ears.
Save your spouses heart.
Save your dog's bladder.
It's ONLY air. It only takes a couple extra minutes. De-gas and be done.

If you are very careful, you don't need to degas. You are very careful, right? Of course you are. No need to degas. I'm assuming you are talking about the gen II marauder. Just be aware of the transfer port orings. One or both can drop out without much notice, and if you should discharge the rifle with the barrel off, they will certainly blow off. Good luck with that. But then again, you are very careful, so no worries. I don't like to degas when I don't have to because I have read about the valve rings, or gauge block rings becoming unseated when there is no pressure in the tube.

I have never degased on Mrod or Prod (same design) to remove or replace top half. Make sure the gun is not cocked and safety is on. Outside of smacking the airtube on the floor to get the hammer to move, not aware of any other way to activate the valve with top off. If degassing provides piece of mind, OK.

Thanks for the replies. I do have a steady hand when I'm working on the bench and stable place to work. I was able to do it without degassing, but was very careful while doing it. Pretty simple process you do really and now it's set for right handed shooting (which i am). I don't like to degass either unless needed for the same reason npunk42 gave. Possibility of oring getting out of position. Thanks again for the help all, I'm certain I'll have more Mrod questions in the future as I get to know this one better.
