milo74 regulator adjustment

does the plastic screw sticking out the top of the milo adjust in the same fashion as the huma?... viewed from the top or inlet, counter clock rotation increases set pressure and clockwise reduces set pressure?? does anyone know?

I have 3 milo74 B50/B51 regulators.  Mine do not have plastic screws.  Which regulator do you have?  Have you contacted Milo74 via personal message?  He's always responded and been helpful when I had questions.

reg is for disco. havent tried to message him. mine has black plastic set screw. took it apart, first recorded total end to end length. has bellville washers like the huma, so i bet it adjusts accordingly.  i increased the oal by .020. we'll see what happens.. cheers

I've ordered three of those in the past (installed by Motorhead) and I do not recall any of them having plastic screws.  Do you have e a picture?

mine does not look like that. it is alum, with brass piston and black plastic screw that acts to seal the center of piston as the bellvilles compress from increased pressure on low press side of piston, moves piston up and against plastic screw to seal off flow from high press side... at least thats how it appears to me... cant get photobucket to coop just now. post pic later. cheers

Oh wow.  That's very different looking than what I received.  My purchases were over year ago.  Clearly been some changes   Hopefully someone here has experience with that model.

Mine has never behaved in a way you would expect a reg to behave... Deffinately doesn't act like my huma. Pressure on the gun gauge does not stay steady during the string.....steadily drops with each shot. And now, if I fill to 3200 psi using the pump gauge as filling guide, the disco gauge in gauge port says 1100 psi....30 shots later, velocities begin to get lower. So, I look at the gun gauge,and says 900 psi.. OK, time to pump it back up....after reconnecting the pump and giving it 8 or 10 pumps to fill the hose, the pressure in the gun indicated by the pump gauge says nearly 2000 psi, but the gun gauge said it had 900 psi.. Now that the pump is reattached and says near 2000 psi, I'm at a loss as to what is really up here. If the gun gauge says 900, you would expect to see near that remaining in the reservoir, would

you not?  Took the Milo reg out and apart last nite. Was found to be clean and free from trash. I'm gonna put it back in the gun today and see what we get. Confused...cheers

"Milos later versions used a SIDE INTAKE for HP which placed HP on the HP end of spool outside of the seats diameter. This style the pressure exerted on the end of spool directly changed with tank pressure & regulator was less stable to set point as tanks pressure rose & fell."

I don't know how your regulator is installed but I think it is installed between the fill valve and the gauge block.  If installed this way your gauge will show regulated pressure and below.  I never sees 2000 psi since the regulator is doing its job.

Yup ... why i had stopped using the MILO74 regs a couple years ago now.  The side intake design simply is not as stable / consistent as center intake type such as his early designs and of course the HuMa.

As to OP's Q ... yes in screwing the black plastic bonnet in/out changes seat height and the set pressure value.

well, i got it back together and as i pumped it back up, i paused when the pump gauge says 1000 and looked at the guns gauge. it says 800. so it is off say 200 psi. ok... pumping on to 3200 on pump gauge, gun says 1700. definitely made a change.. so, it looks as if it is regulating around 1500 given the 200 psi discrepancy in the gauges. sooooo, now its filled to 3200, appears to be reg set at 1500.. time for the chrony.. more soon. thank you all for your input.....cheers
