What do you guy think about a barrel chop on a 460mag .22cal

 I'm alway petrified to do it, especially on barrels that are already choked. The couple times i did though it turned out ok, and handled MUCH better. J

those 460's are a little long...maybe lay out a white sheet , lay the gun on top and then lay a piece of paper over the barrel how far you want to chop?  it would give you an idea about how it would look after the chop. I'd be into seeing what it looks like in a photo. i like the carbine for looks and balance. but you guys know how i feel about carbines! I LOVE THEM!....Bart

I agree Bart I love the carbines myself and I figure about 3'' would work what do you think?

i've only handled one in a store. and it did seem a little long.3" would defently look cool. its real heavy so i think having a more compact weight would help in every way that a carbine could.

I think it'll be a good thing other than the cocking will be a little stiffer with the shorter handle, even tho I've been giving that a work out to see if I like using it choked up about 3'' from the normal spot, but it doesn't really seem all that much harder than normal to me, but its a hunter not a plinker so its not like I'm gonna be putting 100shots thru it at a time, but you never know!

Chopping the barrel isnt that hard and only thing id worry about is cocking effort. But you have already tried it and are good with it so go for it.
