Quote from: Flint on June 26, 2022, 09:03:23 PM...I've recorded your 397 and 392 - those serial numbers are fairly early. Interesting you ended up with two with an N prefix and pretty close together. You didn't happen to have bought them new at the same time or bought them from someone who did? I didn't realize the numbers were so similar until today. I don't know the history of either gun and bought them separately. When you say early, do you mean they are closer to '91 than '93?Quotealso thanks for the C9 info. I kept track of those changes also. I have a record of a 697 with the old trigger and a 997 with the new trigger so yes, the trigger pack change happened sometime between June and Sept of 1997. Do you know when Crosman introduced the cartridge valve? Thank you!

...Yes, I'd say both were made in 1991 - definitely early guns. Do they have the larger breech? Slightly bigger in diameter and also the length of the section of the breech in front of the bolt cut out is longer than in later guns.Cartridge valve replaced the soldered valve sometime in 1995. If you have a '95 gun, best way to tell what kind of valve you have is to measure the distance from the stock screw to the front trigger guard screw. The distance is 1.5" on guns with the soldered valve, and 2" on guns with the cartridge valve. Some stocks in this transitional period had stock screw holes in both locations.
I have several : listed newest to oldest392s 320N00399397s 719N00166392 017N00181C9A 208700883 ( Aluminum Cartridge Valve )C-Series Silver Streak 552186C Blue Streak - 108418 ( originally bought 1967 - barrel separation from scope mount - sent to Sheridan for repair 1976 - got back new metal )
Both those '91s have the short breech with the same measurement as my '93 C9 - it's about 3/4" from front of loading port cut-out to the far end of taper. Did you notice this s/n and pic of the long breech C9? https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=198028.msg156335287#msg156335287I am 90% sure I bought a new CB9/C9A in '94 at the very latest and it had a cartridge valve, but I don't have the gun anymore so I may be wrong...Thank you!
1973. Serial Number 031857. Made in Racine. Never been touched that I can find or see.

I'm not really collecting serials on those newer guns - assuming you already know that the first three digits are the date code. First number is month: 1-9=Jan-Sept, O-D = Oct - Dec. Second and third digits are the year. However..... the serial number on your silver streak is interesting as it's the second highest Sheridan C serial number I have recorded (highest number being 558something) So your silver streak would most likely be last year production of the C streak which was 1990.

Hey guys, I've been collecting information on the 1985-1995 benjamin and sheridan rifles for the last several months. My goal is to put together all this information to share with everyone. There is much confusion and misinformation floating around especially about the early 90s time period. I think I have a pretty well established timeline (based on actual documents) now and actually think that I have made sense of the serial numbers of the pre-crosman guns, but would like to fill in some gaps to make sure that I'm not missing something. At this point, i've pretty much exhausted the internet, and have PMed some of you already, and thanks so much to those who have already helped! What I would love for you to be willing to share with me is the following information about any of these guns that you may have: model, exact manufacturer stamp, exact serial number stamp (its ok if you want to give xs for the last couple digits, though I can't imagine what harm giving the serial number of an air gun would do). Here is an example (using some of my guns) to illustrate what I would like:Model exact manufacturer stamp exact serial number397P Benjamin Air Rifle Co V063380C9 Benjamin Sheridan Corp W164135Please be sure to send me exactly what is stamped on your gun. So for example, don't say that the manufacturer is Benjamin/Sheridan, as I know that your gun is not stamped that way and there is a difference between Benjamin Sheridan Corp. and -Benjamin-Sheridan-. Also, if you are having a hard time making out what the actually letter/numbers are on the serial number, please post a picture. I guess for now, only send guns marked Racine or Bloomfield but not E Bloomfield unless it is a P or C9 (without the A). ALSO and ESPECIALLY let me know if you actually know when this gun was bought new and/or if you have the actual manual that came with that gun, and what the print date is on the back pageDepending on your serial number, I may ask you a follow up question about your gun. THANK YOU SO MUCH for any help that you can give!!!!!!
