Did some target shooting with the new JSB XXL pellets. They measured .465-.466 and fit very tight in the chamber. I didn't get to chrony them today because of the heat. See for yourself how they did and how they compare to 3 other rounds I shot today... I always try to simulate a hunting situation when I shoot so, remember this is me standing with the gun's bipod on my deck's ledge at 50 yds in 104 degree heat. But if you look at the bottom picture I actually got 3 XXL's in 1 hole...I pulled one also

It's definitely the best I own...Very clear even at 24x...

The skirt might be that large, but the head is likely closer to 0.457".... just a guess....

No, I mean they're .465-.466 measured withe calipers....@ Bob, the head is so large it doesn't begin to enter the barrel...I'll show a pic when I get back home

You got it right...the head measured right at 457-458 but, the skirt is definitelty between .465-.466

Skirts 0.007-0.010" oversize is typical for pellets....

The JSB XXL, I have measure the same as yours and they weigh 245 to 250 grs. they shoot about 2" 3 shot groups at 50 yds out of my Texan.

There not what I was hoping for, they don't slide into the barrel because of the big skirt and the accuracy is not that good. Have you found anything that shoots good? I can get 1 hole groups at 30 yds but the groups open up as you go farther, like 2-3" at 50 yds and 4-8" at 100 yds.

The most accurate ammo I have used in my Texan has been the Nielsen swaged 167gr. And yea, I am not impressed with the XXL either...I should have bought some more Nielsen's.... AeroMagnum has some big things for the Texan coming down the pipe very soon so, I'm waiting on those

I have some of Nielson 168 gr. they are about as accurate as the Lyman collar buttons, but not good at all at 100 yds. in my Texan.

The heads on mine measure .457-.4575. The skirts anywhere between .470-,485

Yes, 168gr Nielsen( I had to go weigh a few). The Nielsen do OK at 75 yds though....I've never heard of Lyman collar buttons. I wonder if ANYONE is having success at 100 yds with ANY round in the TEXAN....

I think it's worth mentioning that Nielsen has a 200 gr bullet that is pretty accurate . It's not available on his sight but, if you emailed him I'm sure you could get your hands on some. ***If you look on the target pictured in the beginning of this thread, it's the bottom right 5 shot group...I pulled one of those shots to the hi left. If not for that it would be a jjdecent group

PA was kind enough to accept the return of my JSB XXL's....these are the first JSB pellets that my gun(s) didn't like.... PA is a class act....

***I told a fib, these are not the first JSB pellets my guns didn't like...My SUMATRA carbine doesn't like JSB either, it likes the Air Arms Diablo version of the same

You guys might have better luck with them if you put them though a sizing die to size the skirts down to either 456 or 457.
Just from all the work I have done on Big Bore Diabolo pellets they do need to be sized correctly to make them accurate
