Welp, right now i am just twiddling my thumbs still waiting for my replacement maximus to show up. So anyone want to take bets on when that will be?

While i wait, anyone with a 22 cal maximus notice any pellets that are particularly more accurate in their maximus than others?

Like the Discovery .22 that I hunted with the last three years, the Maximus .22 like the same pellets.  The POI may shift a bit from pellet to pellet; but the consistency at the new point is amazing.  My plan is to use the Crosman Permier box domes for hunting with the Maximus.  The squirrels are going to hate me for that!

I thought crosman stoped selling the boxed dome permier 22cal pellets? I have been trying to pick up a few boxes but cant find any anywhere. If you know where to get any can you point me in the right direction?

I have always wondered. Why does crosman make heavier .177 cal pellets (10.5gr) but not heavier .22cal pellets? I think they would sell well.

Michael, I am a hunter (squirrels), and  do very little shooting outside of the woods.  The Crosman Premier Box Domes I referred to were bought a couple years ago.  I shot some through my Discovery but the rest just sat in my ammo storage container when I started using JSB 15.89 gr pellets for hunting.  I didn't even know they were no longer available from Crosman.
Someone else will have to answer your second question because it is a mystery to me too.

How accurate are those 15.89gr JSBs? I have seen them recommend before but they never mention anything about group size wih there gun.

If you have any extra of the boxed domed crosman pellets i wouldnt mind buying them. It suckz they dont sell them anymore. My sisters nitro venom loves them. I think of only have half a small pill bottle left. Airguns be my medication!!
Actually kidding aside, i keep my pellets in the bright orange pill bottles you get from the doctors. I do it generally because tins generally arent the best. The bottles are most of the time waterproof to a degree which is helpful if it is dropped, and they are bright orange which also helps if they are dropped outside or in the forest.

 Another bonus is if you have the smaller ones and a elastic loop cartridge holder, either a cheek piece or what have you, you cut the stiching of every other loop and have the bottle fit in. I have found it a good way to carry pellets in field.

I use pill bottles because i am sir el-cheapo right now! An because of all the things wrong with me i always have pill bottles somewhere. Might as well put them to use instead of rotting at the landfill.

About $50 at AOA. Took me over a year before I could talk myself into it, but I am glad I did and I am going to buy another one.

Michael, I used the JSBs for hunting because they were the most consistently accurate pellets through my Discovery.  And because they were a little softer, they dumped more/most of their energy in the squirrel.  In fact, I often recover the pellets.

As a past Discovery .22 owner and a current Maxi ,22 owner. If I held both arms out and GAVE you a choice between the two AGs, no charge, which one would you choose?  Not to steal the thread but would love opinions.  I want to purchase my 1st PCP tomorrow.

I appreciate the input.  I have been told that, after tuning, one can expect 20 shots -860 fps Disco and 30 shots- 800 fps Synco and the related fpe. Don't quote me, but as I understand it, the two AGs have different springs and port restrictions.  The Synco is restricted giving more shots, less power. As I mentioned, tuning both for efficiency gives the numbers above.

I I have a springer AG with 18-19 fpe.  I think I will go Disco because I like wood as well and a little more power.  I wonder if the longer Synco barrel makes it more accurate?

I will have to wait until hunting season has been going for a couple weeks before I can answer that question.      But really, the Maximus can't be much more accurate that my Discovery.

There was another thread recently where Motorhead and rsterne were discussing the contribution of longer barrel to rifle accuracy.  In short, it is their (more learned than my knowledge or) opinion that a longer barrel does not add to a rifle's accuracy. On a gun with iron sights, the separation of sights will contribute.

So if you have a difference in accuracy between a disco and maximus, all other things being equal I think you can dismiss 4" of barrel length one way or the other.  The more accurate rifle most likely has the better barrel, better power plant, or you hung your tongue just right. :-)

I was just looking at the Pyramyd Air site at the "Specifications" section for Maximus and Discovery (Both in .22).  The Maximus shows 850 FPS Maximum Velocity.  The Maximum Velocity for the Discovery is listed as 900 FPS.  There are some subtle differences there.
