Marauder Stock project

Started work to change the Gen I Marauder stock.
Here's a quick Photoshop to see if it's doable.
There's some areas that need cut and some work to reinforce areas but I think it's a nice way to go since I have everything I need.
That's a Black Ops Sniper stock I have laying around.
The butt part is already removable so I can use it with out the butt stock if I want.
Here's the first look with the stock and the Marauder set together.
You can see the first part that has to go and the new tool to do it.
Here's a better shot of the area to remove.
That area holds the worthless fake bolt the Black Ops has.
As I work the stock to fit the Marauder I may need to cut the fake magazine out or figure out a way to remote the pressure gauge.

You can see some of the areas that will need worked to fit the Marauder.
Cut the bolt area out and did another test fit.
You can see the trigger is lineing up nicely.

I'll make a attachment for my cordless drill and use rough sand paper to start cutting areas of the stock down to fit the Air Tube.
Once I sink it into a rough placement I'll start using FiberGlass to reinforce parts of the plastic stock.
I may bed some stainless steel in the fiberglass if I feel it's needed.
Or maybe some wood strips.
Once it's fitted the whole Gun gets a paint job.
I'm thinking a Winter Camo?

Rough look at what it should look like all fitted.
I have a request to Ignite to see if I can buy just the stocks.
I have to give credit to Dez for inspiring me to try this.
Saw the Marauder he did with an AirSoft stock awhile back!!
I also give credit to Rocker1 for pushing me to do something outside the box.
Granted the lathe may not be handy for this project but I have a local Buddy that may help me.

Did some more cutting and hacking on the plastic stock.
It's fitting down pretty good aside from a few issues.
Biggest issue is the Pressure Gauge placement.
It hits in a bad spot right now. I'll need to figure out a way to off set it to the rear of the Air Tube a tad or something.
Maybe even get rid of it all together? It reads the PSI of my Reg so I go by what the pump says anyway.
The fake magazine was removed by taking out 2 screws. I may trim that area down and make a filler to streamline it.

It looks really good so far. I cant wait to see it when it is done.
Have you desided on what pattern of winter camo you are going to do?
Since it is now tacti-cool, give it a tacti-cool pattern. Maybe a desert digital pattern but replace the tans and browns with whites and greys.

I'm not a Fan of the Digital Camo stuff.
What I will do is take some photos near my home this winter and go from there.
I have all kinds of air brush stuff and years of doing custom paint work so I know my paints and skills.
It will be my first AG paint job so it has to be super special to me.
I did figure out a way to mill the stock to fit.
Using the lathe, I'll make a simple sanding attachment.
I'll pull the tail stock part off and make a custom jig to run the stock on.
It doesn't have to move just give me a steady platform to kind of hone the stock.

Looking good and digital camo was never on my camo list as well. As you mentioned take a walkabout and check out the foliage that grows in your area to match up with your shooter camo. Ed

Got a bit more work done.
Now I cut the front of the stock back to the compression chambers original front screw area.
I'm thinking chop a barrel band down and use those screw holes after I do some contour work there.
I've also tracked down a fitting that will have the Dwer Gauge set off to the side of the stock instead of the bottom.
It's Stainless Steel and rated to over 5000 PSI.
The heavy butt plate will be drilled to reduce weight also.
That thing weights a ton!
Still thinking about that fake magazine area.
I'll check to see if it will hold the Marauder mags before I butcher it.
Oh. Yea. You can't buy just the stocks.
So buy a used Black Ops Springer if you want to do as I am doing.

With a bit of dremel work the fake magazine now holds 2 Marauder magazines so it's a keeper.

Also did some more cutting to set the whole thing back about a 1/4 inch.
Then did the rough cut on the front of the stock to get that angle most of the stock has.
Tomorrow I get the part to set the Dwyer pressure gauge off to the left side of the stock so I can cut that hole.
Also getting the epoxy I need to fill some areas.

Fake Magazine with 2 Marauder magazines stowed away.
A view of some of my butcher work.
I'll make a support in that area to hold the rear of the power plant where I want it.
Looking in from the butt stock.
I have a lot of support parts to make and epoxy in but it's going better then I first thought it would.
A look at the rough cut for the front of the stock.
Trying to maintain the angles of the other areas.

Picked up some JB Weld WaterWeld putty.
It's some pretty killer stuff to work with.
Also Ghosted on a white primer to the stock.
Got tired of looking at the Black Ops stuff and it's planned to be white anyway.
Everything will be painted a winter camo at some point.

I started filling in the old cocking slot with the JB Weld.
I kept it thick as I'm betting I'll need to pin it with small Stainless steel screws to be safe.
That whole area needs filled in before I do the final shaping work.
It will also get a rail attached on the underside later down the road.

I recommend checking out Free Form Air epoxy putty. If you like working with JB Weld, you'll love Free Form Air. It's super light, strong, cheap and easy to work with.

Harbor Freight had a sale so bought a new belt sander.
That allowed me to square up a few areas and add some more filler.
Other parts get painted tonite with the white primer.
I'm going to call this stock The Winter Soldier.

Winter Soldier stock with a factory stock next to it.
Tomorrow I'll have the bi-pod system attached.
I also replaced all bolts with Stainless Steel.
I may not sell this after all!
