A friend and I went to the range this morning with full intentions of shooting for score and joining the club.
But 20-25mph winds prevented that from happening.
The target boards are mud flaps from 18 wheelers, and are hung with chains, and were flying in the wind like kites.
After 2 targets and only getting a 5 moa best score, and many LONG Waits between shots waiting for the boards to stop spinning, we decided to scratch the idea for the day and just play.
We started shooting at lumps of clay on the berm at 100 yards, me with my Talon, and him with my .22 rimfire.
We played "follow the leader" I would call a target, and take a shot, if I hit it, I got a point, if I missed, and he hit it, he got a point.
Then it was his turn to call the target, and I shoot cleanup.
Person with the least points buys lunch.
I had only shot the Talon at 100 yards once before.
My drop from 50 to 100 yards was only 1 mildot at 6x.
After about 100 rounds I had learned a lot of the hold off necessary for the winds, Talon at the speed I am tuned for.
I ran another 100 rounds using co2 on the Talon, big difference in velocity, but still very consistent.
I will make the team next time, the rifle us capable of doing it, if the weather cooperates..

I make 2 predictions;
ON THE DATE WHEN US TROOPS ARE ISSUED AN Energy Pulse Weapon,
1. The US Soldier will have on his person a version of the Colt 1911.
2. He will be aiming the NEW Weapon at someone carrying an AK47.

I like this idea, how do you attach the targets. I use a T50 stapler, but always looking for new ideas..

We use standard staplers also, they retain the targets just fine.
My Talon still has the energy at 100 yards to go straight through them, but it does take a lot of the energy out of the projectile, and will take thousands of powder burner hits..
The local police range uses replaceable 3 inch thick foam panels in their target frames.
The targets are held in place with these, they are easily pushed into the foam board, but staples work well too.

Whith my airguns I enjoy shooting the nails out of the corners of my friends targets.
A one of powder burner friends has figured out what I am doing, one hasn't, he still gripes about his target always falling down when we go to the Dane county range..
