Refurbished Hatson 95 broken right out of the box 😑

Was excited to finally receive my refurb Hatsan 95 in 25 cal yesterday. A quick feel of the trigger and I knew something was wrong as it had so much side to side slop in it. Pulled the trigger guard and as suspected there is something broken inside. We will see how the dealer I bought it from handles it just pretty bummed to get this rifle only to have it broken before I can even shoot it. The broken piece sits on a pin just under the right side of the trigger under and to the right side of the rear adjustment screw. Will try to post a pic later on

I just purchased a new Hatsan 95 (not refurbished), and the trigger has a lot of side-to-side play. I didn't think about it too much until I saw your post, but I'm concerned now.

I've emailed Hatsan Service to ask what my options are.

i had a bad hatsan refurb as well. It seems "refurb" just means "re-box" with some dealers...

If it is just the trigger and not the whole housing you are fine.  If it really bothers you place a small washer on one side of the trigger.  There is nothing wrong with your Hatsan!

My Hatsan 100x has a ton of side to side play as well.  From what I have been reading and seeing on YouTube, this is normal for the Quattro trigger.  Some people have recommended putting washers alongside the trigger to shim it tighter.  I tried this with a single shim washer on the starboard side, and it tightened the side to side play but the trigger hangs up on reset sometimes.  Its slightly too tight.  I am sanding down a thinner replacement, I think if I take off just a little from the shim washer and polish it up, it should reduce most play and still function smoothly.

Ideally, you would want an extremely thin washer on each side of the trigger, but finding washers thin enough is going to be a challenge.  Hummm, I guess with an end mill you could inset very shallow spaces centered on the trigger pin for two washers to set in.  Then the washers would extend just the very little required to tighten the side slop, and being locked in the trigger casing would further brace the whole cartridge.  That kind of machining is currently beyond my ability though.

You could try to locate thin nylon washers.  Home Depot carries them, as does Ace.

Yeah mine definitely has something broken in it as I can see it.  Got a reply from the company right away just waiting on a return ship label from them and all. Will keep everyone updated

The Quattro triggers on my two Webley Tomahawks and on my Hatsan Torpedo 100X don't have any side-to-side play. Is this a characteristic of just the Hatsan 95?

Can anyone tell me what size washers or spacers to buy, so I can pick them up on the way home from work?

You could try to locate thin nylon washers.  Home Depot carries them, as does Ace.

  I used a gallon milk jug to cut small washers out of and they worked well...

Picked up four spacers at Agway on the way home. The smaller two are perfect fits for the Hatsan 95 and Torpedo 100X.

That's a cost of 11 cents per gun for trigger repairs (not counting the 26 cents I totally blew on the larger spacers).

Ok got a better look at it tonight (i.e. Took it apart) removed the stock to check out the trigger mechanism all was well with it as it is a refurb it has a bit of wear on the contact points wich I mistook it for being broken along with all the trigger slop. Will have to try to get some milk jug spacers or something but for now it is good!

That's great! It's never fun to ship back a product, especially an airgun, for repairs.
