Where to get scuba tanks filled?
« on: May 14, 2016, 01:35:41 PM »
I would really like to get a tank, but unless my local fire dept. can fill for me, I don't know of anywhere fairly close to me that will fill tanks. I'm about an hr West of ATL right off 278. Small town called Rockmart.

Everybody in GA feel free to post where they fill their tanks. Even if it's not close to me, maybe it'll help somebody.

Norman, Blackdiesel, gets his filled at a paint ball shop somewhere west of ATL I think and he said it only costs about $2. I'll tell him about this thread so he can say for sure.

This is the closest one I see on the map. But that does not mean it is the ONLY one. Cost is pretty high IMO.

I get my carbon fiber tanks filled at Wildfire Paintball Snellville, 3725-C Stone Mountain Hwy, Snellville GA 30039, 770-982-8180.  They charge $1.50 per 1000 psi. You will need a male 1/8 disconnect connection.  PA sells a male to male adapter if you only have a female connection.

I just checked with The Dive Shop on McEver for those of you on the NE side of Atlanta (specifically, between Buford and Gainesville).  The woman I spoke with said they will fill both SCBA and paintball tanks without a problem, but they must have a current Hydro.  Cost is a flat $8.  They will also fill scuba tanks used for airgun/paintball without a C-card on a case-by-case basis, but they must have a hydro and an annual visual inspection ($35 and $25 respectively).

One issue I noted was she stated they could only fill to 4000 psi, but she said they should have all fittings necessary to fill all of the above tanks.

The next closest fill is probably Paintball Atlanta off GA400, but since they're only open on the weekends, I haven't been able to verify.

Also, for those of you on the NE side of the ATL, Peach State Fire in Gainesville will hydro SCBA tanks for $12/ea and scuba tanks for $18.  About a 1 week turnaround.

Well, I had 2 SCBA tanks filled at The Dive Shop on McEver Rd.  Really nice folks, but their "4000psi" fill ended up only being 3400psi once the tanks cooled off.  A paintball shop will be my next stop.

If your in need of scba tanks filled to 4500 psi, safety plus in Cornelia will fill them to 4500psi. I have my tanks topped off and from 3200-4500 they charge me $10 for 2 tanks.
