Vista, CA area, rabbits destoying my parents lawn and they need help

My Dad doesn't shoot at all, but finally got so fed up he bought a cheap pellet gun to try to save his lawn. He is DEFINITELY not the type to do this, is not a good shot, hates to shoot an animal and really has no business trying to without practice. I asked what gun and model he got and I'm waiting for his reply but he said it was cheap so I figure it's a 760 or similar. I don't even know if he's ever shot a gun before. They are in they're 70's and nice people.
Would anyone in the area be willing to take out a few rabbits some night there. Taking/eating them is encouraged.
The yard is fenced in and only about 15'x60'.
