After playing with my AA S500 HFT it was time to go old school! Launches 14 grain pellets at 580 FPS at almost full power
. Mounted up my Weaver K2.5 scope and had some fun. Seems to really like the RWS Hobbies, which I suspected from goofing around with it earlier. Also likes the Beeman FTS, but the JSB 13 grains shoot well then I get the odd flier?
.
Anyway, just blasting away with bulk fill fun…

Very nice condition 114. I like the period correct scope on it. Don't you love these old school bulk fill CO
2
Crosmans?
Seems like old Crosmans like wadcutters best. At least that's the case with both my 118 and 101. There's no other choice with the 118. It's magazine will only feed wadcutters. I have a few boxes of the old Crosman Super Pells wadcutter. They're the exception to the wadcutter rule. Probably the worst looking pellets I've ever seen. It's a miracle we hit anything we were aiming at back then. They're guaranteed to jam a repeater.

Yeah, I don't mind wadcutters but was hoping for a domed pellet to work well. Whats weird is I will get a flyer every now and again and not sure why
. Thinking of trying the RWS Meisters.
The scope is from ebay. Terry on here inspired me to go 'vintage' with the scope. I have a Weaver K3 on my Crosman 180 too.
I may switch my scout set up on my Sheridan to another old Weaver scope

114s are awesome guns. Under-appreciated in this day and age. They can be found cheap on the online auctions, all the time. Accurate as all get-out. One good fill and you can shoot darn near all day. Easy to work on, should the need arise. I was about floored at the shot count I achieved last weekend. Check out how tight some of those groups are.
I've settled on the JSB 15.89 as "the" pellet for mine. Slower, but a bit more accurate than the 13.43. Most of my shooting in .22 is done with these two pellets, almost all my guns like them.
Nice looking 114, Dan!

Terry:
Saw that thread and was blown away! Now having the 111,113 and 114 too, if more owned these old Crosman's I have a prediction. In my opinion, these old bulk fill guns are on par with the old Racine Sheridan's. Especially when it comes to build quality, accuracy and power and one bonus is they are way cheaper to have re-sealed. Think under 50 bucks
and shipping was included!
I havent chrony'd the 111 yet (i have a new 111, gave the other one to a friend) but the 113 shoots the JSB 7.33 grain at 700 FPS and is laser accurate. That was not on a summer day. I don't think I have that on full power as its my youngest son's.
Anyway, the only drawback is cold weather and CO2, but for the money I wish I knew about these AG's when I got into this addiction. Way cheaper to set up and run and they produce the kind of power you want right away, without fiddling with them, accurate for sure, parts are all over and Alchemy Airworks sells the 459 mounts which fit these for a scope. But the old peep sights work rather well unlike the old Sheridan sights if you have eyes like mine.
All that to agree, totally under appreciated. I think the bulk fill thing throws people off on what they need, how to fill and all that, but its actually really easy.
By the way, these are my favorite AG's to break out with my non-firearm believing crowd. They are fascinated with a relic from a time when we built stuff to last and the fact you can re-fill the bottles and don't have to buy the 12gram carts. They speak to the hippy crowd is what I am trying to say
. My wife is one of these people and she likes the bulk fill concept and the history behind them as well as some others close to me.
I'm all about building bridges brothers
.
Oh, forgot to add I refinished the stock when I got it. It had some awful reddish stain on it like it had spent some time in China in the 70's and got that B3 finish sprayed on it! had to bring back the nice elm.
BZ
p.s. I'll try the heavier JSB's too!

Nice job on your stock, Dan. Did you remove the safety or work around it? I have a steel barreled 114 that shoots just as well as my brass guns. It needs new seals, maybe I will do that today, weather is going to be crummy.

I removed it Terry. Lubed it with moly before installation. Pretty sure my 114 has a steel barrel too.
