PS Arrived today 5-2-2016 at noon.
Ordered 6pm 4-28-2016  arrived noon 5-2-2016- 4 days 18 hours-

Needless to say 15 minutes after I got home- it was shooting
most of that was bolting on a scope
and opening the several boxes- that were taped over the little HW box
yeah very well packed-arrived perfect
shoots great-
 claims 36 lbs cocking effort-same as 460??
well one of them must be stretching the truth
it takes MAYBE 1/2 the cocking effort of the 460-
geez I started  giving it my full body wrenching 460 effort and I barely eased up before bottoming it out hard

I was cheap-regular nice wood.

seem to remember Joanie bragging(politely) about hers-
but I'm cheap-and old-so wood suits me

 I have to Thank to Joanie-
I asked if the HW97 "felt" lighter than my really NOSE heavy 460
sure enough despite being about 40 grams heavier-just under 10 lbs as displayed with scope-mounts
it is noticable "lighter feeling" especially in respect to the nose heavy feel of the 460 when you shoot standing free hand

Oh both 460 and HW97 claim 36 lbs cocking effort??
Germans must measure 36 lbs MUCH differently
The HW97 is very easy to cock-toy like by comparison to the 460-
I started to cock the HW97 with my usual butt on ground 460 weight into lever cock
Geez if I hadn't detected how different it was-I would have broken it off
Yeah much easier to cock-maybe 2/3  the peak force-and maybe 2/3 the throw

I'm happy-here it is-with its germanic cousin
Those are cheap $41   and $20 scopes
Center point 3x9x32  on 460  $41 thanks to bargain gate-natchez
Tasco 6x40 pronghorn $20 CDNN
Once I get a fancy mount- Diana ZR I might upgrade-but I'm cheap and I LIKE the center point  don't like the Tasco

Triggers
1) the 460 T06 is lighter-and when I detect that pause-slight decrease in force-it is more precise
2) heavier as delivered-it requires more force
But when shooting freehand standing-hoisting that 460-I MIGHT prefer a higher weight trigger
Just guessing but in bench shooting-if you didn't have to hoist that 460-its light precise trigger Might be better -
shooting standing free hand-your muscles are kinda' tense-so much harder to modulate such a light precise trigger
And If I pick up the 460 after shooting my  benjamin 392-
Yikes!
 I blow right past the second stage-BANG -yeah tricky trigger-frankly I would like it more if it was heavier weight in the  second stage-I think Diana's claim is 120 grams-4 OUNCE- second stage??

Penetration 9.5 crosman SSP lead free 22's
15mm  probing with tiny screwdriver- into pine-
9mm   probing same way
The actual penetration is another 3-4mm to point-and it is compressing crushing the wood
The 460 easily blows thru a  softer 20mm pine board-with plenty of splintering
The HW97 penetrates 14mm and barely shows a crack on the backside
No surprise the 460 is much more powerful
But I don't hunt-so don't really have the need for it
heck I don't "need" any air guns-
They are FUN
 and practice for self defense with firearms-same deal-sight picture trigger control-BANG
but MOSTLY fun
the noises don't bother the dog or cats(they are locked out of "hallway range"
but occasionally one will be sleeping on bed-and I will shoot the other way-she-Muffin-barely raises her head when the 460 makes its funny noise

Oh the HW97 is quieter-but neither require ear protection

The 460 certainly "jumps around" more-much more-but it doesn't seem to effect point of impact-pellet must clear barrel before much of the jump happens(plus I'm not very precise-so I wouldn't notice a 3mm shift in POI)
