Whistling HW97 Cocking Lever

Yes I'm being picky, but the whistling noise my HW97KT makes when I close the underarm cocking lever is starting to really bug me.  If I was outside or in a noisy environment it probably wouldn't bother me, but I shoot indoors in a very quiet place all by myself. 

Is there any solution that would eliminate/reduce the whistling noise?

You must be really zinging that lever to get it to whistle!

That noise (normal) is from the comp-tube sliding, on the right amount of lube on the nice fitting seal, sucking air. Get used to it. Start to worry if it quits 'whistling'.

Mine doesn't whistle but there is a squeaking noise during the cocking process.  I'm glad to know that it's normal....right?

I'd call it a ring or zing sound. Kinda like a fingernail on blue jeans.

I also get this whistling noise on the two HW97s I've had.  I also think its the sound of the air getting sucked in through the transfer port and into the compression cylinder.  I've heard it too on other HW77/97 rifles I've seen while out shooting field target.  I think its completely normal, though I can see how it could be distracting.

I get a slight ringing sound in my cocking lever when I close it or when I fire the rifle.  A few drops of oil (the thicker the better) in the end of the cocking lever will stop the ringing for a time.  I think it is the spring inside that is resonating.

I've done that and the squeaking/ringing noise is still there.  I'm happy with the performance of my 97K and just accept the sound to be part of our relationship much as some sounds are accepted as part of another relationship.

If we are talking about the same noise, the oil takes care of mine.
