I am getting my first airgun

Ordered Crosman P1377 on amazon but didn't do a lot of comparing to other airguns. I'm looking for the best price per performance airgun under $100. Debating between P1377 with steel breech, $25 scope, and a stock (which is well over 100$) and Winchester Model 77XS. A Multi-pump pneumatic would by really nice since I am practicing target-shotting at my backyard and don't want to drag too much attention by creating a lot of noise. I am mainly going to use this for target-shotting and plinking in my backyard, or maybe small game hunting in the future (depends on whether I have enough money to buy a proper springer when I think I'm ready.) As you can tell, I am a noob at airgun, please give some suggestion if you have any. Thanks.

The crosman 1377 will serve you well, with the steal breach, it becomes a tack driver, with a good scope Mt and a decent scope too, make sure you find what pellets she likes the most and stick with it. I have the 1377 it my main starling slayer.

Waaay back when I lived in Los Angeles, I used to shoot my Sheridan from inside the house - 5 feet back from an open window into a rag stuffed cardboard box set on a lawn chair in the backyard.

The neighbors heard NOTHING.

The Parents didn't complain either as I had my bedroom door closed and they knew I wasn't out otherwise causing trouble with my friends.

You can never have enough of them. They are great starter guns to have and use, just so many ways to fix them up. Good Luck!

A Daisy 953 or an 853 from CMP will set you back about $100 or so and you will never find a more accurate AG for the money. Single pump and very quiet. Not a hunting power level gun, but just right for backyard work.

Update: The P1377 just arrived and the only thing I can say is I underestimated the power of this gun. I thought that carpet in my backyard is enough to stop 3 pumps, but it can only stop two. A pellet trap is not suitable for me because 1. I don't have enough money 2. I not so good at shooting soo much there is a big chance that I will miss the trap. I will be using a cardboard box full of Homeworks instead.

The only thing I've shot before is some cheap Chinese airsoft that fires plastic bbs. Don't even go through cardboard.

Look in what others throw away , their can be some good back stop material not far from home , old cabinets etc they might need a little modification , gives you a chance to be creative, let us know if you find something and how it works or ask us if in doubt if it will work

You can always use a cardboard box with old phone books in it. A 1377 is a fine way to get into airgun shooting, or to get back into airgun shooting. I have one, and, later, got a 1322 also. Both have steel breech, skeleton stocks, scopes, and stock barrels. I wouldn't mind getting longer barrels, but, then they would lose some of the handiness and easy portability of the little carbines with the short barrels. They are just so much fun, and are so handy to shoot.

I take old magazines that are headed for the trash and stack them 8 or 10 deep. Then I just wrap duct/packing tape around them a few times, and either stick or staple targets to them. Maybe not the quietest of stops, but quiet enough for me, and stops pellets from all my guns. When they get shot-out and start falling apart, into the trash they go to be replaced by the next bunch of magazines.

I remember bringing my 1377 home from Wal-Mart in the wee hours of the morning. I was so excited! I just couldn't wait to shoot it. So I stepped out on the back porch And gave her 10 pumps, cocked her, loaded her, and let loose. BANG!!! Needless to say at 10 pumps, and being brand new it was very loud. 1500 shots later she is still my loudest air gun. Love it. But she can be loud; no doubt about it.

The 13xx/2xxx platforms are just cool to work with....I made most of mine carbines , cause I cant shoot a pistol for squat anymore....take your time picking your guns, u got plenty of time to build your collection...2 of my favorite shooters are a 2400KT carbine and a 1322 carbine with fatty forearm and 18"barrel, + all the assorted goodies that come with customizing......good luck

Get a good cardboard box, some tape, and a $10 bag of rubber mulch from the local Lowes store, and that's about as good as it gets for quiet stopping power.
My internal dimension on my homemade plywood trap are:
7-1/2" D x 12-1/2" W x 13-3/8" T

If you can find a box with about that amount of cubic inches, you're good to go.

Doesn't take much to make a decent pellet trap.

Old car floor mats, old "Welcome" mats, carpet layers, phonebooks, magazines... all are FREE! (you do way too much home work!) LOL
now as far as you worrying about missing the target... Stand closer until you accuracy improves. 5 meters (yards) is one of the match distances for a pistol. Nothing wrong with starting out at 10 feet.
CONGRATS on the new 1377. Many an air-gunner started with one of them.

The 1377 is a great gun that many of us started with. If you enjoy the 1377, consider the Hatsan 25 Supercharger Vortex as a great breakbarrel pistol format to move up to. About $100.00 on sale, and very accurate, I have taken Starlings with my scoped .177 at 40 yards.

In my opinion you should just use the sights on your 1377 and forego the option of steel breech and scope. Save that money for a springer.
