Got shoot the Dragon Claw

Snuck out of town this weekend since got my bullets from Neilson Ammo & Mr. Hollowpoint. Not sure what to think about accuracy since this is my first big bore. 3 shot groups at 25 & 50 yards w/ 209gr round nose, 175gr hp & 145gr round nose. One thing I do know is that the trigger is horrible!! Feels like your dragging it across sand paper. What's yalls thoughts on the groups?

Also I pulled the trigger apart & polished the sear & trigger blade, cut a few coils off the springs. Should I polish the hammer where the seat engages or leave that part alone? The trigger is just very rough.

Your groups are not too bad, but, if a person could get the trigger a lot smoother and less poundage your groups will improve. My Recluse trigger is just awful, I need to do something with mine as well, it feels like it takes 10 LBS to fire it. I am sure the Dragon is set up the same way as the Recluse and I sure wish someone would make a good after market replacement or something!

I would try to get your trigger lighter and smoother and step out to 75 yards and see what the groups are like, my Recluse does really well at 50 yards with some bullets but past that (75 yards) they scatter too much. If you are planning on just deer or hog hunting then a 2" or 3" groups will be fine out to 75 and 100 yards. Yes we all prefer 1" at 100 yds, but it is not as easy as you think!

As for polishing up the hammer seat part, yes polish it all, but try not to grind any more metal off than what is needed to smooth it up!

I have tested a lot of ammo in my Recluse and the best ammo I have shot was from Nielsen Ammo, wish my Recluse was 50 cal. instead of the .357 cal so I could have showed you what Nielsen Ammo worked best.

The trigger is really heavy on my dragon claw as well, if not careful the groups will open up really bad . It dose not feel gritty though . At 25 yards mine puts three round balls into a nice cloverleaf . At 50 the first two are in the same hole and the third slightly lower . I limit myself to 50 yards for deer hunting with it and have not shot it farther . The drop past 50 yards has got to be pretty severe with the low velocity they shoot at and heavy "pellet" weight .

Drop me a pm, after I get feeling better I can cast you enough round balls to try . They are .500 188gr from a lee mold cast with pure soft lead .

I did they in the 1st pic outlined in black & in the 3rd pic. 25yrd groups are great but I think the 50yrd groups suffer from the horrible trigger. I'll be working on that in the near future.

I have found if I pull back slowly and consistently, not snap pulling, I have tighter groups. It will get better the more you shoot it. Good Luck.

be careful with the trigger spring,and make sure you do the drop test and that it don't go off,and i agree the trigger on all my sam yang rifles is heavy,good luck with your dragon claw
