A polyurethane tube inside the reservoir works very well to dampen the vibration in the reservoir & eliminate the ping. That's the route I'd have gone.

But if it works well enough for you I see no reason to not go the route you took.

Most of the ping noise is gone. most of what i hear now is more of a spring "boing" noise.
If i took a video and posted it to youtube would yall listen to it and give me recommendations?

If we could hear it I am sure we would.
But that spring isn't very long or stiff so I wonder if you are mistaking the noise for that when it may well be something else.

After hearing it on camera. It does sound like a ping. Any helpful ideas would be appreciated.

We had to get the camera pretty close to hear it.

its PING for sure. I hear it all the time in the shop on customer guns maybe I should make a 3d depinger like I did for the Mrods.

Definitely ping
the polyurethane tube in the reservoir will deaden that ping without doubt. it doesn't affect the performance of shot count either.
But if after that you are still hearing anything similar to it, then I'd look at that thin plastic housing on the gun since it could be that spent air from the shot is causing it to resonate. If thats the case then a thin layer of spray on foam inside it should remedy the issue.

Or the alternative option is you could learn to live with it like a lot of us do

Mod90, i am interested in the tube and will look into that.

The ping is certainly not the plastic housing but the aluminum tube did have some resonate coming from it. The dynomat pad took care of that. You can actually feel the difference in vibration in your fingertips when you fire it.

And "getting used to it" as you say is a very good possibility. It is already so much quieter than it was, its incredible.

The wide angle lens of the camera makes it hard to understand how close the camera is but my wife literally had to hold it withing 2 to 3 inches to be able to hear the ping on camera. at 3 feet away you couldn't hear it well.

I had my Bulldog apart yesterday and tried removing the valve spring. Went from 896fps to 925fps with 127gr Hunters Supply bullets. Took it to 241fp, I did 5 shots and no problem. I'm leaving it out. Regards, Tom

Any problem filling from a completely empty reservoir? Like having to hold the gun upright or barrel down?

mine wont fill from empty without the gun cocked.

Yes, just hold it barrel up, might be difficult if pumping. Works golden with HPA. Might be able to turn the hammer spring out a bit and get a nice curve. I'll try that tonight or tomorrow. Regards, Tom

This thread has been a fountain of info for sure. it sounds like the gun is fairly simple to take apart and apply deadening material around the tank. Opening up the ports a bit sounds a little tricky but I did it on my QB78 without too much trouble. I very much like the 5 shot bell curves you guys are getting too.

Where did you get your Dynomat ? Is it a brand or ? I saw it and it is very very expensive where I checked. What is it normally used for and how thick is it ?

You can get some Dynamat at most automotive or car audio stores.
I had some a long time ago for a customer that had a loud industrial system in residential zone and we needed to keep the noise down.
That stuff works great but it does cost some real $$$, I believe it was about 1/8" to 5/32" think if I remember right.
