Well Ian, I agree with Fred on the Crosman 1400. Light, powerful, accurate and quality wood and steel. I have been restoring and customizing several of these great pumpers. Here are a few pictures of ones I've done, and have been selling. Resealed, tuned triggers, and reblued. They are better than new. I'm working on three more at the moment. All the third variant.  I heard the Webley Rebel was going to be discontinued , so I bought 2 one in .22 and liked it so I got the .177 also, might have been the last 2 available retail in the US lol.

another option is make your own to your specs...or have parts made...

I made a budget version of this build with just Crosman parts (some modded) and hit 20.6 fpe with 14.3 CPHP in 20 pumps.

 Yes They pack a wallop , also takes a strong man to pump them more than 4 times, I usually shoot it at 7 pumps, hunting.

You should go for it John. If it's in shooting condition, or if you're comfortable resealing it, you won't be disappointed. They are the most enjoyable of all the pumpers short of the Super Grade..... IMHO. How much is the ad asking for it?

Although I am known around here mostly for shooting springers, I have done quite a bit of shooting with Sheridan and Benjamin pumpers all the way out to 50 yards. Do not sell these pumpers, short, when it comes to accuracy and performance. With the right pellets and sight setup, I have managed groups under an inch at 50 yards with ours. They may not be as fancy, but it is a mistake to think of them as being "lesser" guns than other types of AGs.

I especially like the simplicity and ruggedness of the original (pre-Crosman) Sheridans. Very easy to pump, very easy to work on and nothing second rate about construction quality.

   Since this thread started, there is now the option of buying a 1377/1322 based airgun, specked to your needs, through the Crosman Custom Shop.

    I have one each of these models, that I put steel breeches on, and the skeleton stock, and then scoped both of them. So far, I've stayed with the stock 10" barrels, just because they are so much fun to shoot, and so handy. I wish I would have bought that Bugout Bag kit, which had the 1322, with skeleton stock and 12" barrel. They were a quick takedown model.

    As far as the 2100, I have a Remington Airmaster 77 about 8 years old, that shoots great, and never any problems with it. Same gun, but with cosmetic differences. One of the few still available with a metal receiver. I did pick up a Model 66 a couple year ago, for like $40 new with an Amazon discount. Though it's a plastic fantastic airgun, it shoots very well and mine has a very good trigger.

    I's like to pick up a 397 I think.

Check out  https://www.crosman.com/custom-shop/# if you haven't already. You can have them custom build a 1377 or 1322 for you. You can have up to an 18" barrel. That should make decent power. In carbine form, with a steel breech, shoulder stock, and 18" barrel it's only like $105 (more if you need iron sites). Add a few more easy mods yourself and it'll have some real power if you want.

Crosman announced it on the board hear last week before the public got it, took me all of 10  minutes to have my order in.

Look up Mac 1 in the vendor forums.  He does great work, sometimes has used pumpers for sale and does steroid modifications and installs a brake to cut down the bark.

I have a steroided 342 with gen 2 brake and love it.

I have to say that the custom shop carbine is probably one of the best pumper options out there. I love pumpers and have many  101's and a 140 and 1400. I also have a couple Smith and Wesson 77A's. The 77A is a wonderful strong accurate pumper and should be on any ones short list...That being said, the 1300 based 22 carbine, I built with a 24" barrel and modified valve is a strong and accurate shooter. It will discharge 25 pumps and shoots in the 700's with Crosman Ultra Magnums. It can be hard on the valves at maximum pumps but they are cheap....
