The NON pest Squirrel hunting season here in GA opens in 11 days... i'm so excited to get to do some actual stalking through the woods with my Titan and Gamo. i'm pretty sure i'l be one of the only people out hunting with an air rifle.

Free hunting day in TN is usually the last weekend of August and it is the start of squirrel season! When I was a kiddo the woods were full of squirrel hunters. I haven't seen another hunter in the woods during squirrel season in forever. I think TN has one of the longest squirrel seasons. It only closes a few months out of the year and we even have a spring season!
The spring season blew right by me as I was too busy hunting coyotes. No, I didn't get any either, but I was trying really, really hard.
I just hope the heat starts to go away a little before the season starts. It has been over a hundred here almost every day. I've given up coyote hunting for awhile. The animals just aren't moving around like normal due to the heat.
Anyway, I've got my squirrel scouting gun ready (my Whisper) and I'll have my TF 89 for where I know there are squirrels. I'm going to hold back that big heavy RWS 350 for the night critters and because it wears me out carrying it in the woods. Like you I can't wait! Christmas in August!

i think the season goes from August 15th, to march or april 30th. very long season. and i doubt many people hunt them anymore, considering i think the limit here is 15... mabey 12... but definatly a lot.
