I bought an old B-1 a few months ago, just because I guess, and it wouldn't hardly push a pellet out the barrel LOL. I did the tissue test and it failed. So I put a Crosman breech seal in it . It was a perfect fit, and cured that problem. Now it shoots one ragged hole with a removeable field sight I bought from the arrow guy that I modified into a peep sight. My only question is I was going to tear it down and check out the piston seal and lube it up, but can't seem to get the cross pin to budge that holds the barrel in. I took out the set screw that keeps it from backing out, but it is really in there tight. Any ideas short of a torch and big hammer to get it out? I just don't want to ruin it, as it may be cheap, but is a fun little plinker. I restained the stock mohagany and put a SKS muzzle brake on it and it looks really neat, and shoots really accurate.

What is an SKS muzzle brake? How is it attached? Pics would be great, if you could.

The SKs muzzle break (pre-AK47 10 shot Russian/Chi-com semi-auto rifle) will fit a B1. Just remove the front sight and drive it on with a few hammer taps so you can knock it off if you want. I have one on one of my B3-1 AK's. I ground away part of the back end so I could still adjust the front sight and tapped it on. I didn't use any adhesive or J&B Weld and it's been on for along time and a lot of rounds.
I don't know how you're trying but don't try to remove the B1 barrel pin/screw with the breach closed. Pop the barrel open. Don't cock. When you re- assemble the gun after you stick the cocking shoe back in the piston re-install the barrel pin/screw with the barrel in the same position. Open, not closed. Closed there is much tension against the pin.

Not to remove the barrel. You need to use a spring compressor to remove the main spring.

Thanks Tim. Good advice there. I did not try it cracked open. The muzzle brake I have is a pin on one I had for my Russian SKS, and had the cut out for the front . I just tapped it on and it is a press fit, and didn't have to remove the front sight. I have birdcage type ones from a Ruger 10/22 on my B3-1's. they fit right on and are held with a set screw. Dresses them up real nice.

Nick Panther, was your B1 used, or did you get a new one? Amazon has a seller with new ones for $39.95 plus some freight. I've been thinking about picking one up. The Crosman breech seal you used, was it just a rubber o-ring?

Check out dpciwholesale.com for B1's B2's and B3's and other low priced guns. They have a $100 minimum order.

Jon, I used the stock Crosman breach seal, ( looks like hard plastic) part# B12-00-14 , and a shim. I imagine you could use an o ring although I'm not sure of the size you would need. I was experimenting when I tried it and it worked excellent and will prob last longer than the gun LOL. I bought the gun new off Amazon, it was cheaper then. I replaced the front sight, it was welded on crooked. Yeah Tim I am registered there. I was looking at a couple of their pell guns I was thinking more along the lines of their B2 design and of course their B3's ( I just love those ).. Just getting the $100 plus $20 shipping is the hard part LOL.

They also have a little nicer B3 type gun with nicer stock, fiber optic sights and a trigger safety for $42 and a refurb Air hawk for $59.95. I've bought both from them. Air Hawk was like new. They're in Orlando and shipping here to Savannah was like $17.
Pyramyd has a TF spring gun cleaning/parts kit that has 6 leather breach seals. $9.55. The kit is for a B2 but the seals will probably work in a B1. I've used them in old Crosmans and Winchesters and they worked ok. I use two, one shims and the second seals. All I had laying around.

Yeah, I have one of the newer ones. It's ok but I still like the old ones better. The fiber optic sights are kinda hard to use for me, I like the standard post as they are a little narrower and easier to line up in the rear notch. I got the one with the synthetic stock, filled it with desicant for the noise, and repainted it .The B2 breach seals will fit, I just used what I had and the Crosman fit with a shim and seals really good. Avator said he made them fromn leather shooelaces, so just about anything could be used I guess as long as it seals. My B1 is just a nice little can popper, easy to use and accurrate at short distance, will go through both sides of a vegtable can at 15 yards. Longest shot I made at a tin can was 40 yards, LOTS of elevation on that one LOL. I also like it because it shoots the cheap Daisy pointed pellets real well. It is the only air gun I have that shoots them good, and at the price I shoot it a lot.
