Removing Barrel

Hey Rob,
Knocked off the muzzle brake on my Hatsan 95 today.  The barrel end looks identicle to the sniper, except we know they have different brakes/(@*#&%(*@&) mounted on them.

Had to heat mine up with a torch (like a well done hotdog) and then pound off with 3lb hammer & chisel.

I'm making my own muzzle brake on the lathe out of aluminum.  It s/b nice

OK thanks again Kirk. I guess they have to be destroyed to be removed. I won't make another attempt to remove until I get home. Making your new break you can get about 1 1/2 shorter barrel. If I could choke the barrel, I'd cut the barrel off at the tapered cut. It would be a nice carbine.

It's too expensive to have it sent out to be choked. $40 + shipping two ways. Thanks for all the help Guys, it is appreciated.

Hey Rob,
Got the barrel and brake done.  I took an additional 1- 1/2" of the barrel as it didn't need to be that long and made the gun slightly barrel heavy.  It is my understanding the Hatsan springer's are not choked.  Their PCP's are slightly, which you can feel as you clean the barrel.

My Hatsan 95 is now likely 2-1/2" shorter than OEM.

I asked a known tuner on the forum about a choke job. His answer to me was that the Hatsan barrels are all choked. I'll PM his name if you want to talk to him.

I've had some that seemed to have no choke to some that had to be lapped.
There's a lot of threads on doing a home choke here at GTA.
If you do attempt to do a choke? Be ready to do some lapping if you go to tight.
You would be wise to buy a cheap barrel from crosman or some other source to practice on before you do the Hatsan.

I've also read that if one threads the end of a barrel with a die it causes a choke effect to a degree.
