Anodizing Aluminum Parts

Hey Guys,
Does anyone anodize their own aluminum parts?
I was thinking of doing this instead of buying muzzle brakes.  I can make the aluminum parts on my lathe, but as of now, do not anodize. 
Is it worth trying to DIY?

Would appreciate any thoughts

There is a You Tube video of a simple anodizing process.  It takes dilute sulfuric acid and a twelve volt dc supply.  All anodizing does (according to the video) is put a coating onto your piece.  Coloring is a separate process.  He demonstrates that, too.

It appears to be simple enough to do.

I've looked at a couple of techniques which look simple enough.  It's just a matter of buying all the stuff needed.  I have a car battery charger, just need the black dye, battery acid, lye, lead electrodes, plastic vats etc.

Even though I didn't state it , I was looking for the results other member have gotten DIY.  Does it come out looking reasonable professional or should I expect something less?
